Ford Mondeo 2026 launched in China, beautiful design like Mustang

The China-made 2026 Ford Mondeo features a sharper design, new software, and slightly more powerful engines.

At the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show in China, Ford officially unveiled the mid-life upgrade version of the 2026 Mondeo. The new version has a sharper design, new software and a slightly more powerful engine. These upgrades will also appear on the Ford Taurus model for the Middle East market.

The most notable change of the 2026 Ford Mondeo is at the front and rear of the car. Accordingly, the car is equipped with a new headlight cluster with a more compact shape, accompanied by modern LED graphics. This detail helps the car look like the 4-door version of the Ford Mustang. The new light cluster is placed on both sides of the wider grille, connecting to the sportier air vents on the front bumper.

The embossed lines are still retained on the side of the car. The only change in this area is the new alloy wheels. At the rear, the 2026 Ford Mondeo has redesigned taillights with modern graphics.

The rear bumper of the new Mondeo has also been refined with a black cladding and a diffuser painted in the same color as the body. Meanwhile, the size of the car has not changed compared to the old version. The car still has a length of 4,935 mm and a wheelbase of 2,945 mm.

Inside, the car is spacious with an almost identical overall design. The car is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 27-inch infotainment screen that stretches across the dashboard. However, the cockpit now uses the next generation of the SYNC+ operating system and is equipped with a more modern Snapdragon 8155 chip.

The car's infotainment screen has a new interface, smoother operation and improved voice assistant features. The car's "floating" center console has been redesigned with two wireless charging trays and new cup holders. Physical buttons have been moved to a position below the central air conditioning vents.

Under the hood of the 2026 Ford Mondeo are three engine options. The first is a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 193 horsepower. The second is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with a maximum output of 257 horsepower.

Finally, the hybrid powertrain, which produces a total of 284 horsepower. Compared to the old version, the engines of this mid-size sedan have been slightly increased in terms of power. All versions of the 2026 Ford Mondeo use front-wheel drive. The gasoline version uses an 8-speed automatic transmission while the hybrid version is equipped with a CVT.

The new Mondeo is produced in China by the Changan Ford joint venture. Prices will be announced soon. It is not yet clear whether Ford will apply similar upgrades to the Mondeo Sport - the 5-door SUV-coupe version of the model that used to be called Evos.
