Accordingly, free-range chickens fed on rice are being bought in large quantities at prices ranging from 100,000-120,000 VND/kg (an increase of 10,000-15,000 VND/kg compared to normal days), and the labor cost for cleaning the chickens is 10,000-15,000 VND/chicken (an increase of 5,000-10,000 VND/chicken).
Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh, a small trader at Phuoc Hau market (Phuoc Hau ward), said: "On the third day of Tet, the demand for chicken doubled compared to normal days. I had to stay up all night to prepare chickens in time for customers. I also choose chickens with clear origins to import and sell for peace of mind."
While delivering 10 chickens to a chicken vendor at Vinh Long market, Mr. Le Van Chinh (Thanh Duc ward) said: “This Tet holiday, I raised 300 chickens to sell. The third day of Tet is when chickens are in highest demand. When vendors sell out, they call me immediately to ensure a continuous supply.”
