Nearly 20 central streets of Ho Chi Minh City banned vehicles

Vehicles were not allowed to enter many downtown streets on the evening of February 9 (the 30th of Tet) to celebrate the New Year and serve people to have fun and watch fireworks, according to the Department of Transport.

According to the announcement of the Department of Transport, to ensure safety and limit traffic jams when a large number of people gather in the central area, from 7:00 p.m. on February 9 (New Year's Eve) to 1:00 a.m. on February 10 (New Year's Day) , vehicles are prohibited from entering the following streets: Le Loi (from Dong Khoi to Pasteur), Nguyen Hue (from Le Thanh Ton to Ton Duc Thang), Dong Khoi (from Mac Thi Buoi to Ton Duc Thang), Ton Duc Thang (from Nguyen Sieu to Vo Van Kiet), Nguyen Tat Thanh (from Khanh Hoi bridge to Hoang Dieu).

Other routes also banned from traffic during the above time include: Ham Nghi (from Ho Tung Mau to Ton Duc Thang); Hai Trieu, Huynh Thuc Khang, Ton That Thiep (from Ho Tung Mau to Nguyen Hue); Nguyen Thiep (from Dong Khoi to Nguyen Hue); Ngo Duc Ke (from Dong Khoi to Ho Tung Mau); Lam Son Square (from Hai Ba Trung to Dong Khoi); Dong Du (from Hai Ba Trung to Nguyen Hue); Mac Thi Buoi (from Hai Ba Trung to Nguyen Hue).

In addition, vehicles are also not allowed to enter the routes around the Me Linh Square roundabout, including: Ngo Duc Ke (to Ho Tung Mau Street), Ho Huan Nghiep (to Dong Khoi), Phan Van Dat (to Mac Thi Buoi Street), Thi Sach (to Dong Du Street), Ba Son Bridge and Khanh Hoi.

During the above time, vehicles from Binh Thanh to District 4 can follow the alternative route: Nguyen Huu Canh - Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Du - Cach Mang Thang Tam - Nguyen Thi Nghia - Nguyen Thai Hoc - Ong Lanh bridge - Hoang Dieu - Nguyen Tat Thanh.

In the opposite direction from District 4 to Binh Thanh, vehicles can follow the route: Nguyen Tat Thanh - Hoang Dieu - Ong Lanh bridge - Nguyen Thai Hoc - Nguyen Thi Nghia - Cach Mang Thang Tam - Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Xo Viet Nghe Tinh.

From Thu Duc City to District 5, take the route Vo Nguyen Giap - Dien Bien Phu - Dinh Tien Hoang - Vo Thi Sau - Ba Thang Hai - Le Hong Phong. The opposite direction can take the route Le Hong Phong - Dien Bien Phu - Vo Nguyen Giap.

On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will set off fireworks at 11 locations, from 0:00 to 0:15 on February 10 (the first day of the Year of the Dragon), funded by socialized sources. In the central area, the high-altitude fireworks display will take place at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel. In addition to fireworks, the city will organize a spring flower festival and Tet flower market, a banh tet festival, Nguyen Hue flower street, a book street festival, etc.
