On the morning of May 4th, Mr. Pham Hoang Anh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Cam Trung commune, stated that thunderstorms and strong winds on the night of May 3rd caused over 600 hectares of spring rice in the commune to be flattened, posing a significant risk to yield.

In the spring season, Cam Trung commune planted 698 hectares of rice. As of May 3rd, only nearly 70 hectares had been harvested. The remaining area of over 600 hectares, which had not yet been harvested, was flattened or flooded.
In addition, the natural disaster also caused partial roof damage to 18 houses in Cam Trung commune; and 2 high-voltage power poles were knocked down.
Thunderstorms and strong winds also caused spring rice crops in many localities across the province to be flattened. According to statistics from the Department of Crop Production and Livestock of Ha Tinh province as of 8:00 AM on May 4th, the natural disaster on the night of May 3rd caused nearly 5,900 hectares of unharvested spring rice to be flattened.

Localities with large affected areas include: Bac Hong Linh ward (480ha), Ky Xuan commune (550ha), Ky Thuong commune (110ha), Cam Lac commune (335ha), Cam Hung commune (360ha), Duc Thinh commune (580ha), Duc Quang commune (450ha), Duc Tho commune (170ha), Tu My commune (427ha), Son Tien commune (404ha), Dong Kinh commune (379ha), Truong Luu commune (278ha), Cam Binh commune (230ha)...
Along with the spring rice crop being affected, thunderstorms, strong winds, and hailstorms on the night of May 3rd also caused many houses to have their roofs blown off or damaged; some power poles were knocked down.

On the morning of May 4th, local authorities conducted inspections and implemented measures to support people in overcoming and minimizing damage to affected spring rice crops.

Accordingly, the villages mobilized all available resources to clear the canal and drainage system, quickly draining water from the rice fields to minimize damage to the remaining rice crops.

At the same time, taking advantage of dry periods, farmers are focusing on harvesting the spring rice crop with the motto "harvest as soon as the rice ripens," prioritizing harvesting in low-lying areas and areas where the rice has fallen over to minimize yield losses. In addition, combine harvester owners are being mobilized to the maximum extent, coordinating flexibly between villages to speed up the harvesting process.
