Nearly 600 athletes compete at the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region II

On the evening of November 17, at the Dong Nai Province Sports Training and Competition Center Gymnasium, the Opening Ceremony of the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region II, 2025 took place. The competition was organized to preserve traditional sports of ethnic minorities.

The 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region II, 2025, is organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Nai in coordination with the Vietnam Sports Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director Le Thi Hoang Yen said that the National Ethnic Minority Sports Competition is a cultural and sports activity aimed at promoting and mobilizing ethnic minorities to form the habit of practicing sports, improving their cultural and spiritual life, contributing to the development of mass sports movements; preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​associated with ethnic sports, helping the younger generation understand, appreciate and continue the legacy of their ancestors; assessing the current status of the sports movement, thereby proposing appropriate policies to comprehensively develop sports in ethnic minority communities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the competition, Director Le Thi Ngoc Loan said that Dong Nai is honored to host the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Competition, Region II in 2025. The competition is a regular activity of the Vietnam Sports Department with provinces and cities in the regions. This is an activity of profound political and social significance, demonstrating the Party and State's attention to the mass sports movement.

Through the competition, strengthen solidarity and cohesion in ethnic minority communities between regions and localities in the region and the whole country; preserve and promote traditional sports of ethnic groups. The competition is also an opportunity for ethnic people to exchange, compete, learn experiences, organize activities and sports movements among ethnic groups, contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people. At the same time, it is an opportunity for Dong Nai to promote the image of people, culture and potential of the locality to provinces and cities in the region.

The 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region II attracted nearly 600 athletes from 8 provinces and cities including: Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. Athletes competed in 8 events including: Cross-country, Stilts, Pole Pushing, Tug of War, Volleyball, Football, Crossbow Shooting and Slingshot.

According to the plan, from November 18, athletes will start competing in 08 events at the Festival. The Closing Ceremony of the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region II, 2025 is expected to take place on the morning of November 24.
