After joining six other families in Thac Hoa village to establish the Son Thinh Mulberry and Silk Cooperative, Mr. Dinh Van Mong's family changed their production methods, gradually expanding the scale of mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing.
Mr. Mong shared: “In 2020, the cooperative received over 400 million VND in support to purchase some equipment and build a 150 m² centralized silkworm rearing house with air conditioning. We mainly use this house to raise silkworm larvae. In addition, the authorities at all levels organized training courses, guidance, and technical support for us. With solid knowledge, I boldly expanded the scale of silkworm farming. Currently, the income from mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing brings my family over 250 million VND per year.”
Like Mr. Mong's family, many households in Van Chan commune have gradually increased their income thanks to technical support and production guidance. A typical example is the family of Ms. Tran Thi Nu in Hong Son village. Thanks to regularly participating in fruit tree cultivation training courses organized by the local authorities, Ms. Nu's family has mastered the production process and boldly invested in expanding their scale. Currently, with 300 orange trees and 100 pomelo trees, the family earns nearly 300 million VND per year.
Ms. Tran Thi Nu said: "Since participating in training courses and receiving guidance on techniques for caring for and controlling pests and diseases in crops, I have boldly switched to growing oranges and pomelos in a concentrated manner and applied the correct techniques. As a result, the trees grow well, the yield and quality of the fruit have improved, and my family's income has gradually improved."
Over the past period, Van Chan commune has implemented many practical and appropriate solutions, bringing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws into life. This includes focusing on promoting the dissemination of guidelines, resolutions, and policies to every village and hamlet; strengthening the deployment of officials to the grassroots level to provide hands-on guidance and instruction to people on applying science and technology to production.
At the same time, the commune actively coordinated with specialized agencies to organize training, transfer technology, provide support in terms of seeds and capital, and create conditions for people to link production through cooperatives and associations, forming concentrated production areas associated with the local agricultural strengths.
In addition, the commune focuses on reviewing and selecting economic models suitable to the actual conditions of each locality to guide development. It encourages people to transform the structure of crops and livestock towards commercial production, increasing production value.
Notably, administrative reform has been emphasized, contributing to facilitating people's access to support policies.
Comrade Vu Trong Nghia, Head of the Economic Department of Van Chan Commune, said: “The commune has determined that implementing policies and guidelines must be linked to the actual conditions and needs of the people. Therefore, the locality focuses on innovating the implementation method to be closer to the grassroots, selecting support content with a focus on key areas. At the same time, it promotes the leading role of the people in economic development. Through this, many production models have proven effective, contributing to increased income and creating clear changes in the lives of the people.”
In 2025, the commune organized 3 training courses on transferring scientific and technical knowledge to over 150 people, contributing to improving production capacity. Through this, along with the synchronized implementation of economic development solutions, the agricultural sector in the area has seen many positive changes: Total grain production reached 7,800 tons, livestock farming developed stably with nearly 15,900 head of livestock. The commune established 3 new cooperatives and 5 cooperative groups. The poverty rate was 4.16%.
Building on the achievements, in the coming period, Van Chan commune will continue to promote the motto "close to the people, attentive to their needs," improve the effectiveness of leadership and management, enhance the quality and effectiveness of propaganda work; focus on supporting and guiding people to access and register to participate in and benefit from support policies according to regulations, while simultaneously reviewing and checking the progress of implementation; strengthen inspection of the implementation situation, promptly identify difficulties and obstacles to find solutions to overcome them... Thereby, increasing income, improving people's lives, creating a solid foundation for sustainable development.
