- In the context of increasing labor demand, strengthening the connection between training institutions and businesses is identified as a crucial solution to improve the quality of human resources and meet the economic and social development requirements of the province. Based on this reality, Dr. Phung Quy Son, Vice Principal in charge of Lang Son College, and his colleagues have implemented a provincial-level scientific research project entitled "Some solutions to improve the quality of human resource training through the connection between training institutions and employers," which will be carried out from November 2024 to November 2025.
Each year, the vocational education system in the province enrolls and trains approximately 11,000 people, with a post-graduation employment rate exceeding 80%. However, reality shows that the link between training institutions and businesses remains limited and unstable; learners are still weak in soft skills, foreign languages, and industrial work ethics.

Dr. Phung Quy Son, the project leader, stated: "The collaboration between educational institutions and businesses brings practical benefits to all parties. Educational institutions can improve their programs, enhance training quality, and expand job opportunities; businesses can proactively secure human resources, reduce recruitment and retraining costs; and learners gain early access to the work environment, improving their skills and job opportunities. We focused on clarifying the theoretical basis; assessing the current situation and referencing models in Da Nang and Hue cities. Based on that, we proposed a system of solutions including: collaboration in training activities; collaboration in career guidance, employment, and capacity building; collaboration in scientific research and entrepreneurship; and management solutions to improve the coordination mechanism."
In the training activities, the research group proposed innovating teaching methods towards practical application and digital transformation; standardizing practical and internship activities according to the "Business Semester" model; building a team of lecturers with teaching and professional practice capabilities; and increasing the participation of businesses in the process of evaluating learners' competencies... The results of the pilot test on 299 students showed that over 90% of the opinions assessed the training content as practical and effective.
Regarding career guidance, employment, and capacity building, the group proposed improving the career counseling system based on labor market data; strengthening connections between educational institutions, employment service centers, and businesses; and building a network of industry-specific partners linked to internship and recruitment commitments. During implementation, the group organized a Career Counseling Day with 19 participating businesses, attracting 1,000 students, creating an effective direct connection channel.
To foster collaboration in scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation, the group proposes improving the coordination mechanism between schools and businesses through a process of commissioning research and technology transfer; building a "Problem Bank" based on industry clusters; developing an innovation ecosystem; and integrating entrepreneurship content into training programs through project-based learning and product-based assessment. The solutions are designed to be interconnected and mutually supportive, forming a chain of "training - employment - career development," ensuring that the vocational education system adapts to the labor market in the new era.
Tran Thai Ha, a student in class K20TV6, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Lang Son College, said: "Over the past time, I have participated in many activities organized by the school such as visiting businesses, developing scientific research projects, creative entrepreneurship, participating in job fairs, career counseling... Through these activities, I have not only honed my professional skills but also formed the basis for determining my career goals and development path right from my time in school."
The roadmap for improving the quality of human resource training is divided into three phases: from 2025-2026, focusing on improving training quality and reviewing and adjusting training programs according to business needs; from 2027-2030, implementing comprehensive solutions and expanding training based on needs; and after 2030, perfecting, standardizing, and replicating effective linkage models; aiming for sustainable development of human resource quality. Given the practical significance of the project, in December 2025, the provincial-level evaluation and acceptance council approved and rated the project as excellent.
