Meeting with the press, further strengthening the Vietnam-Thailand bridge

Vietnam and Thailand strengthen media cooperation towards the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, opening up many new cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

According to a VNA reporter in Bangkok, on the evening of December 1, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand organized a meeting with local media to enhance exchanges and deepen understanding between Vietnamese and Thai media partners, contributing to promoting friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Attending the meeting were Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung, Counselor Hoang Diem Hanh; representatives of the permanent offices of Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam , and Nhan Dan Newspaper in Thailand.

On the Thai side, there were representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Information Department, the Public Relations Department (PRD), the Thai Journalists Association (TJA), along with a large number of journalists and representatives of media agencies such as NBT World, Radio Thailand; MCOT, Bangkok Post, Thai PBS, Matichon...

Welcoming the journalists attending the event, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung said that this was the first time the Embassy organized a meeting with representatives of Thai media agencies, along with Vietnamese news agencies and newspapers in the host country, emphasizing that this was a valuable opportunity to further strengthen the bridge between the two countries through media activities.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung reviewed Vietnam's important milestones in 2025, such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the 80th anniversary of National Day and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic sector, emphasizing that this is also the year Vietnam celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, a milestone affirming the important role of the press.

According to Mr. Pham Viet Hung, amid global instability, Vietnam still maintains strong and sustainable economic growth.

Vietnam currently ranks 44/139 countries on the Global Innovation Index 2025 and maintains diplomatic relations with all United Nations member states, including 42 Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships, Strategic Partnerships and Comprehensive Partnerships, including permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the Group of Seven (G7) and most countries in the Group of 20 (G20).

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung particularly emphasized that 2025 also marks the period when Vietnam promotes institutional reform, streamlines the apparatus, and promotes national development.

Vietnam is strongly implementing important resolutions of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, international integration, institutional reform and private sector development.

Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung affirmed that Vietnam-Thailand relations continue to develop strongly in all fields.

Last May, the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership - the highest cooperation framework in Vietnam's foreign relations.

The Ambassador emphasized that 2026 will be a particularly important year for Vietnam-Thailand relations as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1976-2026).

Together with Thai ministries and partners, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand will prepare a series of meaningful activities, including delegation exchanges and commemorative events: cultural and art programs; economic and business forums; film exhibitions; youth and people-to-people exchanges; and sports competitions.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand highly values ​​cooperation with Thai media agencies; emphasizing the important role of the media in shaping public understanding, promoting transparency and strengthening trust between the two countries.

In that spirit, the Embassy hopes to continue to receive cooperation from Thai media agencies to ensure accurate, truthful and timely reporting on issues related to Vietnam.

At the open discussion session with the theme “Vietnam through the lens of Thai media: Perspectives and cooperation,” representatives of Vietnamese news agencies and newspapers in Thailand informed about the organization, apparatus, and role of the agencies they represent, as well as cooperation opportunities with Thai media agencies.

Mr. Jeerasak Pomsuwan, representative of the Information Department of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the important role of the media in Thailand-Vietnam relations, especially in the context of the two countries preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2026.

Mr. Jeerasak hopes that the young generation of the two countries will better understand the Thailand-Vietnam relationship, contributing to the development of this relationship.

As someone who has been to Vietnam since the early years of Doi Moi until now, veteran journalist Thepchai Yong, currently a senior advisor to Thai PBS World, is impressed by the amazing changes in Vietnam today, and hopes that the media agencies of the two countries will continue to act as a bridge to help increase understanding, learn from each other and promote cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, President of the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) Norrinee Ruangnoo happily said that over the past year, TJA members have participated in many exchange and interaction activities with the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Press.

Ms. Norrinee hopes that the friendly relationship between the press of the two countries will continue to be maintained and become increasingly close, especially in the upcoming year of the half-century anniversary of Thailand-Vietnam diplomatic relations./.
