Gen Z tells stories with short videos

In the context of the digital media explosion, short videos are becoming a familiar "language" of Gen Z. The visuality, strong emotions and ability to spread quickly help this form become a means for young people to record life moments, express their opinions and relieve pressure in modern life.

Many studies show that expressing emotions and thoughts through digital tools helps improve mental health, reduce stress and increase self-awareness. For Gen Z – a generation that values authenticity – short videos are also a way to affirm personal identity and connect with the community.

Grasping this trend, many training institutions in the field of communication, including FPT Polytechnic College, have implemented creative practice activities to build a dynamic learning environment, encouraging students to develop professional skills and visual storytelling ability. These programs aim to help students use digital content as a tool to spread positive values, develop healthy personal development and create social connections.

In that spirit, the “Story of Poly” contest organized by the Department of Communications & Event Organization – Economics of FPT Polytechnic College, with the support of Vietnamobile – one of the businesses actively supporting Vietnamese Gen Z in the digital integration journey – has become a notable highlight.

The contest encourages students to share their personal stories, experiences related to school and their true feelings in their academic life. Each entry has its own perspective with rich content about the journey of growing up, friendship, overcoming difficulties or memorable moments in student life.

With 5 teams entering the final round taking place on the afternoon of December 5, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the 3 winning teams, recognizing the students' serious investment and emotional storytelling ability.

“Story of Poly” demonstrates the efforts of schools and businesses in accompanying young people. By creating a space for students to experience and share, the contest contributes to building a confident, civilized and responsible young generation in the digital environment.
