On January 12th, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province announced a plan to "organize an art program for New Year's Eve and other activities for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026". Notably, fireworks displays will be held to welcome the new year at two popular tourist destinations: Mang Den and Ly Son.
The eastern and western cities of Quang Ngai will both have fireworks displays.
The fireworks display during the Lunar New Year aims to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for people to celebrate the traditional New Year, contributing to the socio -economic development of the province in 2026.
Two art programs celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ) and the main fireworks display in the eastern and western urban areas of Quang Ngai province were held simultaneously.
The art program " Quang Ngai Welcomes the Year of the Horse" in the two cities will start at 10 PM and end at 11:30 PM on February 16th (the 29th night of the 12th lunar month) at Pham Van Dong Square (Cam Thanh Ward) and 16/3 Square (Kon Tum Ward).
Next is the fireworks display to welcome the Year of the Horse, lasting 15 minutes, starting from 11:30 PM to 11:45 PM on the 29th day of the Lunar New Year.
This year, the New Year's fireworks display in Quang Ngai province has changed compared to previous years (in previous years it started at 0:00 AM on the first day of Tet).
Explaining this, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province said: the province had calculated the most appropriate timeframe, with the fireworks display ending at 11:45 PM, followed by the broadcasting of New Year greetings from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and then the broadcasting of New Year greetings from the President of the Republic.
"Ending the New Year's Eve celebrations early also allows people to return home to reunite with their families at midnight, prepare the traditional New Year's feast, and light incense for their ancestors. We have carefully considered this to ensure harmony," the department leader said.

Notably, the fireworks display to welcome the Lunar New Year 2026 in Quang Ngai was also requested to be organized by the People's Committee of Mang Den commune and the Ly Son special economic zone.
The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has instructed the two localities to proactively register with the Provincial Military Command for implementation.
The fireworks displays and cultural performances to welcome the new year in these two tourist "hubs" were very well received by many people.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, many families, especially young people, choose to travel and relax instead of staying at home.
Given this reality, Ly Son Island and Mang Den Plateau, with their stunning scenery, are frequent choices for tourists, so the two localities organize fireworks displays so that visitors can experience the New Year's Eve moment during their trip.
The news of fireworks displays in Mang Den and Ly Son at midnight on New Year's Eve has sparked anticipation among many travel enthusiasts during Tet.
"My family will be going to Mang Den for the Lunar New Year. This year we will celebrate New Year's Eve and watch the fireworks in Mang Den. This will be a memorable experience for the children," shared Ms. Ngoc Bich.
