World coffee prices today jumped sharply on the New York floor due to US President Donald Trump's decision to remove the 40% tax on many Brazilian agricultural products, including green coffee beans.
Traders said Brazilian farmers are holding onto their stocks, waiting for better prices as global inventories remain low. According to ICE, monitored arabica stocks fell to 398,645 bags, a 1.75-year low, while robusta stocks also fell to a 4.5-month low of 5,370 lots.
Arabica prices were also supported by drought concerns in Brazil, with Somar Meteorologia reporting that Minas Gerais received just 26.4 mm of rain in the week ending November 21, 49% of the historical average. However, the weather outlook is more positive, with Climatempo predicting heavy rains this week, which should improve growing conditions for the new crop. Meanwhile, the US tariff exemption does not apply to instant coffee, keeping negotiations between the two sides ongoing.

On the other hand, robusta coffee prices have been pressured by forecasts of drier weather in Vietnam. Heavy rains earlier slowed the harvest in Dak Lak , but dry conditions are allowing picking to resume. Despite the easing of rains, traders said drying and transporting the new crop remains problematic, and there are concerns about quality.
The rains that lasted from 16 to noon on 23 November caused severe damage in the South Central and Central Highlands, especially in Gia Lai , Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong. A total of 80,884 hectares of rice and crops were affected, of which Dak Lak recorded about 63,000 hectares flooded to a depth of 1-2 m. In addition, 117,067 hectares of perennial crops, including coffee, durian and pepper, were seriously affected; many areas in Bao Loc and Di Linh (Lam Dong) had their roots eroded, threatening the next crop's yield.

Specifically, in Lam Dong province, Di Linh, Bao Loc and Lam Ha areas are trading at the same price of 109,500 VND/kg.
In Dak Lak province, Cu M'gar area is purchasing coffee at 111,000 VND/kg today. Ea H'leo and Buon Ho areas are trading at 110,900 VND/kg.
In Dak Nong (Lam Dong province), traders in Gia Nghia and Dak R'lap traded at 111,000 and 110,900 VND/kg, respectively.
In Gia Lai province, Chu Prong area is trading at 110,500 VND/kg, while Pleiku and La Grai are holding at 110,400 VND/kg.
Coffee price in Kon Tum (Quang Ngai province) today is being purchased at 110,400 VND/kg.
