Rubber prices in the world market today still decreased slightly in Thailand, but maintained good momentum in China and Japan. A weaker yen and traders watching the deal to end the US government shutdown helped the Japanese market to gain for the third consecutive session.

The Japanese yen fell to its lowest level since February against the dollar as investors awaited progress in talks to end the US government shutdown. The weaker yen made yen-denominated assets more attractive to foreign investors, but the Nikkei was still down 0.5%. In commodities, oil prices fell on concerns about oversupply, although hopes of a US government reopening supported investor sentiment.

Natural rubber prices are under pressure following the trend of crude oil, as synthetic rubber – a product of oil – is a direct competitor. In Singapore, the December rubber contract on SICOM was flat at 170.4 US cents/kg.

In China, auto sales fell year-on-year in October, ending an eight-month streak of gains as consumers tightened spending after the government cut tax incentives and subsidies. However, auto exports rose sharply by 27.7%, far exceeding the 20.7% increase in September. This mixed performance is expected to have a direct impact on rubber demand for tire production in the coming time.

At Ba Ria Rubber Company, the price of liquid latex is 405 VND/TSC, DRC coagulated latex from 35-44% is 13,500 VND/kg; and raw latex is 18,000 VND/kg.

The latest price quote of Phu Rieng Rubber Company fluctuates at 390 VND/DRC for mixed latex and 420 VND/TSC for water latex.

At Binh Long company, the price of this item at the factory is 422 VND/TSC, at the production team it is 412 VND/TSC; and the price of 60% DRC mixed latex is 14,000 VND/kg.
