According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, since the beginning of December 2025, the price of live pigs in the province has recovered and is showing a strong upward trend. Last week, the price of live pigs at the Provincial Breeding and Ornamental Plant Center ranged from 58,000-66,000 VND/kg, an increase of 3,000 VND/kg.
Compared to the previous week, prices increased by 8,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of December 2025. In addition, the prices of animal feed remained stable, so pig farmers made a decent profit.
The increase in live pig prices is mainly due to the rising demand for pork for consumption and production in preparation for the Lunar New Year market, coupled with a decrease in the supply of pork as farmers have been hesitant to restock their herds recently due to concerns about losses from disease outbreaks.
However, the disease situation in the province remains complex, especially with African swine fever (currently, there are still 3 outbreaks in Luc Si Thanh, Cai Nhum, and Don Chau communes that have not yet passed the 21-day quarantine period). Furthermore, the current winter weather, with large temperature differences between day and night, creates favorable conditions for pathogens to thrive and cause outbreaks. Therefore, the Department of Agriculture and Environment advises livestock farmers to be cautious and focus on disease management measures when restocking to avoid production risks.
