Quang Tri blocks off African swine fever area, bans transportation and trade of pigs
According to information from Quang Tri Newspaper, the People's Committee of Tuyen Lam Commune (Cam Lo District, Quang Tri Province) has just announced an outbreak of African swine fever after detecting an outbreak in Tien Phong and Cao villages since July 4. Up to now, the epidemic has affected 12 households, causing the loss of 29 pigs with a total weight of up to 2,777 kg.
Faced with this development, the commune government has directed functional forces to quickly destroy the diseased pigs, conduct zoning, and closely monitor the remaining pigs in the epidemic area, threatened areas, and buffer zones.
The People's Committee of Tuyen Lam commune has also temporarily suspended all activities of transporting, slaughtering and trading pigs and pork products in and out of the epidemic area. Propaganda and mobilization work to encourage people to proactively prevent the epidemic, clean barns and monitor the health of livestock has also been implemented synchronously.
Local authorities recommend that people proactively report any unusual signs in pigs for timely treatment and to limit the risk of further disease spread.
