Demand is increasing, supply is readily available.
According to forecasts from the Department of Industry and Trade, during the peak period of the Lunar New Year (from January 20th to March 20th), total consumer demand in the province is estimated to reach approximately 29,381 billion VND, an increase of 15-20% compared to normal days. Demand is expected to increase sharply in essential food items, fresh produce, and gift-giving items for the Tet holiday.

Specifically, demand for starchy foods such as rice, glutinous rice, and noodles is approximately 103,138 tons; vegetables and fruits are about 85,948 tons; seafood is about 21,487 tons; meat is about 12,892 tons; and poultry eggs are about 73 million eggs. Consumption of processed foods such as sugar, cooking oil, salt, confectionery, and beverages has also increased significantly compared to normal days.
According to assessments, the supply of goods in the province basically meets demand, with a harmonious combination of local production and goods from other provinces and cities through the distribution system.
A highlight of this year's plan is the proactive involvement of major distribution businesses, especially in the petroleum, liquefied petroleum gas, and food sectors. According to the approved plan, the North Central Highlands Petroleum Company Limited is expected to stockpile goods worth approximately 258.7 billion VND; PV Oil Central Region - Gia Lai Branch is preparing over 11,800 m³ of petroleum products, worth 118.2 billion VND. The South Gia Lai Trading Joint Stock Company is stockpiling approximately 820 m³ of petroleum products, while the Central Highlands Military Petroleum Branch is stockpiling over 2,100 m³ of fuel, ensuring sufficient supply for transportation and production during the Tet holiday.
Businesses such as Hai Luu Gia Lai Gas Company Limited, An Qui Gia Lai Company Limited, Southern Gas Trading Joint Stock Company - South Central Branch - Gia Lai area, and Minh Phu Gas Company Limited have prepared hundreds of tons of liquefied petroleum gas and approximately 200,000 kg of bottled gas, ensuring that there will be no shortage of household gas during Tet.
Taking decisive action to stabilize the market.
In the food sector, Pleiku Trade Center, along with the system of trading enterprises, supermarkets, and traditional markets in the province, proactively increased their inventory by 20-30% compared to a normal month, focusing on fresh food, processed goods, confectionery, beverages, and high-quality Vietnamese products.

Ms. Le Ha Thanh Thao, Director of Go! Quy Nhon supermarket, said: "The Go! supermarket system has developed a plan to increase its inventory by 30% compared to normal days, focusing on essential food items, fresh produce, processed foods, Tet confectionery, and private label products. We worked early with suppliers inside and outside the province, prioritizing high-quality Vietnamese products, and simultaneously implemented price stabilization and promotional programs throughout before, during, and after Tet to share the spending burden with consumers."
In rural and mountainous areas, businesses participating in the market stabilization program continue to play a crucial role in bringing goods to the grassroots level. Ms. Mai Thi My Lam, Vice President of the An Toan Agricultural and General Services Cooperative (Hamlet 1, An Toan Commune), stated: “This year, the cooperative is implementing a two-way business model. Accordingly, the cooperative purchases local products such as carp, fern shoots, beef, pork, poultry, and vegetables from the people of An Toan Commune to sell to customers inside and outside the province. Conversely, the cooperative brings OCOP products from within the province, such as Tet confectionery, food, and beverages, to sell to local people, while also promoting and selling through social media and livestreaming. The total value of goods is estimated at over 500 million VND.”
Mr. Dinh Van Ha, Deputy Head of the Provincial Market Management Department, stated: “The unit has directed market management teams throughout the province to develop a plan for intensive inspections before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, focusing on closely monitoring price fluctuations, the origin of goods, food safety, and items with a high risk of violations. The responsibilities of each team and each official are specifically assigned according to their assigned area and field of responsibility, ensuring the timely detection and handling of acts of speculation, hoarding, and trading in counterfeit and substandard goods.”
Speaking directly with reporters on January 19th, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que emphasized: "Proactively developing plans for stockpiling and balancing the supply and demand of goods is an important solution to ensure market stability and effectively serve the consumption needs of the people during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026."
The Provincial People's Committee requests that all departments, localities, and businesses strictly fulfill their responsibilities in stockpiling and supplying goods, absolutely preventing hoarding, speculation, and unreasonable price increases.
