Rice prices today, May 5th: Fresh paddy prices reverse course and increase.

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta region fluctuated today, May 5th; domestic rice exports and exports to the Asian market remained stable.

Today, according to global market data, in Thailand, 5% broken rice is priced at 390-394 USD/ton, while 100% broken rice ranges from 369-373 USD/ton. In India, 5% broken rice is priced at 349-353 USD/ton, and 100% broken rice is offered at 282-286 USD/ton.

The global rice market continues to be impacted by geopolitical conflicts, high energy prices, and persistently high logistics costs, putting pressure on supply and demand and leading to cautious trading.

In Asia, rice exports are more active, and rice prices rose slightly last week compared to the second half of April, sending positive signals. However, prices remain volatile and have not yet formed a stable trend due to the ongoing tug-of-war between supply and demand.

In the domestic market, rice prices today, May 5, 2026, in the Mekong Delta region are fluctuating, with slow trading activity.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province and Vietnam Rice, the current prices for export-grade raw rice are: IR 504 at 8,600 - 8,700 VND/kg; CL 555 at 9,000 - 9,200 VND/kg; OM 18 at 8,700 - 8,850 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 at 9,200 - 9,400 VND/kg; OM 380 at 7,500 - 7,600 VND/kg; Soc Thom at 7,500 - 7,600 VND/kg; and finished IR 504 rice at 10,750 - 10,090 VND/kg, compared to the beginning of last week.

Regarding by-products, prices range from approximately 7,350 to 11,500 VND/kg. Currently, broken rice is priced at 7,350 - 7,550 VND/kg; and bran is priced at 10,500 - 11,500 VND/kg, compared to the beginning of last week.

According to reports from various localities today, rice prices of all types are relatively stable, and trading activity is weak. In An Giang, trading remains slow, and rice prices of all types are relatively firm.

In the Sa Dec area (Dong Thap province), the supply is low, high-quality rice tends to increase in price, warehouses are buying more of all types of rice, and prices remain stable. In An Cu - Dong Thap province, the supply of rice continues to decrease, transactions are slow, warehouses are having more difficulty buying, and prices are less volatile.

At retail markets, the highest listed price for rice is currently 28,000 VND/kg for Nang Nhen rice; 22,000 VND/kg for Huong Lai rice; 20,000-22,000 VND/kg for Thai fragrant long-grain rice; 21,000 VND/kg for Nang Hoa rice; 20,000 VND/kg for Taiwanese fragrant rice; 16,000 VND/kg for common white rice; 13,000-14,000 VND/kg for Jasmine fragrant rice; 13,000-14,000 VND/kg for regular rice; 16,000-17,000 VND/kg for regular Soc rice; 20,000 VND/kg for Soc Thai rice; and 22,000 VND/kg for Japanese rice, compared to the end of last week.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the price of fresh OM 18 rice has increased by 200 VND/kg, fluctuating between 6,100 and 6,300 VND/kg; the price of fresh Dai Thom 8 rice has also increased by 200 VND/kg, fluctuating between 6,100 and 6,300 VND/kg; the price of fresh OM 5451 rice is fluctuating between 5,600 and 5,700 VND/kg; the price of fresh IR 50404 rice is fluctuating between 5,400 and 5,500 VND/kg; and the price of fresh OM 34 rice is fluctuating between 5,100 and 5,200 VND/kg, compared to the end of last week.

Observations from various localities today show improved trading activity and slight price fluctuations. In An Giang, some types of fresh rice have increased in price compared to last week, with more active buying and selling.

In Can Tho, the supply of fresh paddy is limited, and some warehouses are inquiring about purchasing dried Dai Thom 8 and Japonica paddy. In Tay Ninh, Ca Mau, Dong Thap, and Vinh Long, the supply of fresh paddy is also scarce, trading is slow, and prices remain relatively stable.

On the export market, the price of Vietnamese rice currently varies. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Jasmine rice is offered at 496-500 USD/ton; 100% broken fragrant rice ranges from 335-339 USD/ton; and 5% broken fragrant rice ranges from 490-500 USD/ton.
