Pepper price outlook 2025
Experts say that pepper inventories among farmers have decreased, and farmers tend to hold onto their products instead of selling them immediately in anticipation of a sharp increase in prices. In addition, import demand from China is expected to increase after the Lunar New Year, creating momentum for pepper prices in 2025.
According to VITIC, Brazil is currently the world's second largest producer and exporter of black pepper, supplying about 17-18% of global supply. However, in 2024, Brazil's pepper exports will only reach 61,665 tons, down 23.6% compared to 2023, due to the impact of the El Nino phenomenon.
The pepper market is quite quiet, with low transaction volume as people, agents, and export businesses hold onto their goods waiting for prices to increase in the coming time.
