Exports under competitive pressure from the region
Amid China’s tightening of imports, Vietnamese durian prices remain stable at VND20,000-90,000/kg. However, competitive pressure from countries like Thailand and Malaysia is increasing as they invest heavily in branding and agricultural tourism models, especially with the Musang King variety.

Malaysia promotes durian tourism
Malaysia is exploiting durian as a “soft diplomacy tool” with more than 200 durian varieties and 62 agricultural tourism tours being implemented. This is a model that Vietnam can refer to in order to both boost domestic consumption and expand exports in the context of the durian industry needing to consolidate its international position.
