According to the International Pepper Association, Vietnam's export pepper prices remain in positive territory. Coupled with a slight recovery in Indonesian pepper prices, the domestic market is showing more stable and optimistic sentiment compared to the previous period.
In the short term, the likelihood of domestic pepper prices rising sharply to 155,000 VND/kg is quite low unless there is a significant impetus from the Chinese market. Nevertheless, the overall price level is forecast to remain mostly stable or increase slightly, reflecting a relative balance between supply and demand.
Globally, pepper supply is under downward pressure as production weakens in many countries, with Vietnam playing a crucial role. This development makes it unlikely that the world market will have an abundant supply in the near future.
In Vietnam alone, prolonged drought in major growing regions, coupled with a reduction in planted area, has led to lower yields compared to the previous year. Current pepper production is estimated at around 190,000 tons, contributing to a global total production of around 520,000 tons, lower than the level needed to meet stable international demand.

Today's world pepper prices
According to the International Pepper Association (IPC), at the close of the most recent trading session, the IPC listed Indonesian Lampung black pepper at US$6,996/ton and Muntok white pepper at US$9,645/ton.
Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is priced at US$6,075/ton. Malaysian ASTA black pepper is priced at US$9,000/ton; the price of Malaysian ASTA white pepper is US$12,000/ton.
Today, Vietnamese black pepper is trading at US$6,500/ton for the 500 g/l variety; US$6,700/ton for the 550 g/l variety; and white pepper at US$9,250/ton.
The International Pepper Community believes that during the second week of December, the global pepper market remained relatively quiet, with prices stable and no clear upward trend emerging. Despite the generally subdued market conditions, trading activity continued steadily, with no major fluctuations in supply and demand.
In Vietnam, pepper businesses are accelerating order fulfillment for the fourth quarter of 2025 and achieving positive results. In the US market, Vietnamese pepper continues to benefit from stable demand and tariff preferences, thereby opening up room for export growth in the latter part of the year.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, 2025 is considered a fairly favorable year for businesses in the industry, despite the volatile global trade landscape. The sustained growth in exports helps businesses stabilize orders and markets.
With these developments, pepper export revenue in 2025 is expected to reach a record high of approximately $1.6 billion. Maintaining high export prices not only supports businesses but also helps improve the income of pepper farmers, creating a positive foundation for the industry's future development.
