World pepper prices fall in many major producing countries

At the end of the most recent trading session, pepper prices on the world market tended to decrease:

Indonesian black pepper reached 6,989 USD/ton, down 2% (147 USD/ton). Malaysian black pepper also decreased 2.17% (200 USD/ton), down to 9,000 USD/ton.

Indonesian Muntok white pepper decreased by 81 USD/ton to 9,636 USD/ton.

Malaysian white pepper decreased by 200 USD/ton, trading at 12,000 USD/ton.

However, the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 remained stable at USD 6,175/ton.

In Vietnam, black pepper export prices continued to move sideways in the range of 6,500 - 6,700 USD/ton, while white pepper export prices remained unchanged at 9,250 USD/ton.

IPC assessed that the pepper market in the last days of November had a clear differentiation between countries. In India, domestic and export pepper prices decreased due to the weakening of the Rupee against the USD. Indonesia maintained stable prices thanks to balanced supply and demand.

Malaysia recorded an increase in domestic pepper prices due to a 1% stronger Ringgit, while export prices tended to decrease slightly. Sri Lanka was stable throughout the week as supply and demand did not fluctuate significantly.

Notably, Vietnam's domestic and export pepper prices increased sharply last week after two weeks of remaining unchanged, reflecting better demand from the market.

During the review period, the prices of Brazilian black pepper, Cambodian black pepper and Chinese white pepper remained stable, without major fluctuations.

According to IPC, Thailand imported 6,448 tonnes of pepper from January to September 2025. Vietnam continued to lead with 5,479 tonnes, far surpassing other suppliers such as Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Brazil.

The large supply position helps Vietnamese pepper prices maintain competitiveness in the international market, despite mixed fluctuations in world prices.
