Domestic pepper prices increased sharply in many localities.
The domestic pepper market on the morning of November 25 increased sharply from 1,000 - 1,500 VND/kg. This increase brought the average pepper price nationwide to about 148,400 VND/kg, keeping the market at its highest level in many years.
Dak Lak and Dak Nong : Both reached the highest price of 149,000 VND/kg.
Gia Lai and Dong Nai : Increased by 1,500 VND, trading at 148,500 VND/kg.
Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau: Both up to 148,000 VND/kg.
Binh Phuoc: Increased by 1,000 VND, reaching 147,500 VND/kg.

This sharp increase in prices stems from concerns about supply. According to records from key growing regions, prolonged rains and floods in the Central Highlands and the Central region have caused significant damage. Many pepper areas were flooded, trees fell, reducing supply capacity during the peak period at the end of the year. This unfavorable development has become a strong supporting factor for domestic pepper prices.
Expert Hoang Phuoc Binh said that the “black gold” commodity is entering a long-term price increase cycle. The continuous decrease in supply combined with stable world demand makes it entirely possible for pepper prices to reach 200,000 VND/kg next year if output does not improve much.
In the context of increasing prices of agricultural exports, five associations of agriculture, forestry and fisheries have proposed that the National Assembly and the Government consider amending the VAT policy for agricultural products. The associations believe that current regulations are increasing capital costs, directly affecting the competitiveness of enterprises exporting pepper, coffee, cashew nuts, rice, seafood and wood.
World pepper prices remain stable in major markets
