The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association recommends that businesses strengthen warehouse management and proactively manage supplies to meet high demand at the end of the year. Reasonable storage also helps facilitate trading activities, especially in the context of many market changes.

Factors such as export taxes, transportation costs and rules of origin are expected to have a strong impact on the global market structure. Despite the fluctuations, Vietnam still maintains its competitive advantage thanks to its stable quality and long-established export network.

According to the International Pepper Association, global pepper production in 2025 could reach around 520,000 tonnes, down slightly due to adverse weather conditions in many pepper growing areas. However, world supply is still considered sufficient to meet demand thanks to stable market fundamentals.

2025 is considered a period of balance in the pepper market, although supply is somewhat tighter. Export prices fluctuate slightly, while effective inventory management helps maintain stability. IPC also expects that in 2026, global production could recover to around 533,000 tonnes, depending on favorable weather and continued replanting programs.

World pepper prices today

Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Association (IPC), at the end of the most recent trading session, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 6,995 USD/ton, and the price of Muntok white pepper at 9,643 USD/ton.

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is at USD 6,150/ton. The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is at USD 9,000/ton; the price of this country's ASTA white pepper is at USD 12,000/ton.

Today, Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 6,500 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,700 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,250 USD/ton.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, Vietnam imported more than 40,000 tons of pepper in the first 11 months of 2025, reaching a turnover of more than 252 million USD. The import volume increased sharply compared to the previous two years, showing that the demand for raw materials for processing and export continues to expand. In the import structure, black pepper accounts for the majority with more than 34,500 tons, the rest is white pepper.

Brazil remains the largest supplier to Vietnam with nearly 19,000 tonnes, accounting for more than 47% of the market share. Cambodia ranks second with more than 11,200 tonnes and a high growth rate, while Indonesia sharply reduced its exports to Vietnam due to a decline in domestic supply. This trend reflects Vietnam’s increasingly important role in the global pepper flow, especially for exports from Brazil.

Nedspice’s report said that Vietnam’s pepper output in 2025 will be only about 172,000 tons, lower than the previous year and a sharp decrease compared to the peak period of 2018-2019. The reasons come from aging pepper gardens, degraded land, lack of resources for replanting and the trend of farmers switching to higher-value crops. Although the area is expected to remain stable, the prospect of expanding the planting area in the following year is almost non-existent, making the possibility of recovering output difficult.

In addition to the internal decline, adverse weather conditions in late 2025 with prolonged storms and rains also pose risks to the 2026 pepper crop. Some preliminary assessments suggest that output could fall to around 153,000 tonnes, depending on the tree’s ability to recover in the coming months. However, the impact is not expected to be too severe, much lower than previous devastating natural disasters.
