(NLDO) – The price of SJC gold bars is skyrocketing towards the 90 million VND/tael mark, but customers who sell gold with torn plastic pieces or dented gold will have their costs deducted…
On the afternoon of October 23, SJC gold bar price was listed by SJC Company at 87 million VND/tael for buying and 89 million VND/tael for selling, remaining at a higher level than yesterday.
Meanwhile, the price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold continued to climb to new highs. SJC Company traded gold rings at over VND88 million/tael, bought at VND86.9 million/tael, sold at VND88.2 million/tael, an increase of VND600,000/tael compared to the morning, and a total increase of VND1.4 million/tael compared to yesterday.
However, this is not the highest mark of 99.99 gold rings. PNJ Company pushed the price of plain gold rings to 87.4 million VND/tael for buying and 88.4 million VND/tael for selling.
The highest price of 99.99 gold rings is from DOJI Group, when the listed buying price is up to 87.7 million VND/tael and the selling price is up to 88.9 million VND/tael, an increase of nearly 2 million VND from yesterday until now.

In the context of the price of SJC gold bars and gold rings skyrocketing, reaching a new historical peak, some people were surprised when they went to sell SJC gold bars but were deducted a fee just because the gold bars had a torn plastic cover. And this fee varies between gold shops.
Ms. Ngoc Le (living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) reported that she recently sold a quantity of SJC gold bars at PNJ store in District 3 but was deducted 60,000 VND for processing and re-stamping the SJC gold bar that was torn in plastic. It is worth mentioning that Ms. Ngoc Le had just bought this gold bar 2 weeks ago.
"Seeing that I was being charged a fee, I continued to bring the gold piece to Mi Hong store in Binh Thanh district. The staff there said they would collect it according to the purchase price at the time of sale, but I was also charged a fee of 100,000 VND because the plastic covering the gold was torn," said Ms. Ngoc Le.
According to employees of some gold shops, the plastic wrap around the SJC gold bar can be torn, and the SJC gold bar can be dented during storage. Units that buy SJC gold bars will deduct a certain fee to process and re-stamp this gold bar.
Currently, only SJC Company is licensed by the State Bank to reprocess warped, dented gold bars or gold bars with torn plastic covers.
Decree 24/2012/ND-CP on gold market management clearly stipulates that "the state has a monopoly on the production of gold bars, the export of raw gold, and the import of raw gold to produce gold bars".
Therefore, since Decree 24, the state through the State Bank has the monopoly on production, import and export of raw gold... no organization or individual is allowed to produce gold bars, including SJC company.
Every year, SJC company will buy dented gold bars on the market and apply for a license to reprocess and sell them back to the market from the State Bank.
