On the morning of June 13, oil prices fell slightly, Brent oil decreased by 0.41 USD/barrel, equivalent to 0.6%, to 69.36 USD/barrel; WTI oil decreased by 0.11 USD/barrel, equivalent to 0.2%, to 67.97 USD/barrel.
Earlier, the US decision to withdraw some personnel from the Middle East caused Brent and WTI oil prices to both increase by more than 4% in the trading session on June 11, reaching their highest levels since early April. According to analysts, the sharp increase has put the market in overbought territory, leading to the possibility of a short-term price adjustment. Market developments this morning show that transactions are looking to balance and readjust.
Tensions in the Middle East are pushing oil prices higher. There are concerns about supply disruptions despite OPEC members agreeing to increase production. The UK Maritime Authority has warned that escalating tensions in the Middle East could lead to increased military activity and affect shipping in key shipping lanes, Reuters reported.

The “biggest nightmare” for the oil market is the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a market analyst told Reuters. If Iran were to block this vital route, it could affect 20% of global oil flows. JPMorgan even predicted that oil prices could spike to $120-$130 a barrel if the Strait of Hormuz were to be closed. The odds of that happening are low, but oil traders are becoming increasingly cautious.
So, although oil prices fell slightly today, they are still high compared to the previous days.
Domestically, yesterday afternoon (June 12), the Ministry of Finance - Ministry of Industry and Trade adjusted the prices of all petroleum products up, the increase ranged from 200 - 290 VND/liter/kg.
This morning, the new retail price list of gasoline in markets in region 2 (far from ports, warehouses, factories...) updated by Petrolimex is as follows: RON 95-V gasoline 20,820 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline 20,350 VND/liter, E5 RON92 gasoline 19,840 VND/liter, diesel oil 18,310 VND/liter, kerosene 17,860 VND/liter, mazut oil 18,880 VND/kg./.
