On the morning of February 19th, the upward trend of gasoline prices Prices have stabilized and slightly declined after rising more than 4%. At the close of trading early this morning (Vietnam time), Brent crude rose $2.93, or 4.35%, to $70.35 per barrel; WTI crude rose $2.86, or 4.59%, to $65.19 per barrel.
Oil prices surged at the end of the session, following news that Israel had raised its alert level amid indications that the US and Israel might launch an attack on Iran. Analysts say this development fueled a wave of buying in the market; oil prices are being driven by geopolitical factors due to concerns about supply disruptions.

Beyond geopolitical factors, today's crude oil market is closely monitoring US crude oil inventory reports from the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the US Energy Information Agency (EIA). According to analysts surveyed by Reuters, US crude oil inventories may have increased last week, while distillate fuel and gasoline inventories are likely to have decreased.
The average refined petroleum product prices in the Asian market last week showed a slight decrease compared to the previous week. Specifically, the price of RON 95-III gasoline was $73.85/barrel; E5 RON92 gasoline was $71.58/barrel; diesel fuel was $86.18/barrel; and kerosene was $86.4/barrel.
According to regulations, domestic gasoline and diesel prices were scheduled to be adjusted from this afternoon, February 19th (the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year). However, due to the Lunar New Year holiday, the adjustment date has been postponed to tomorrow afternoon (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year). It is estimated that domestic gasoline and diesel prices will decrease by 60-400 VND/liter. The decrease in gasoline prices is expected to be greater than the decrease in diesel prices. This forecast does not include the Gasoline Price Stabilization Fund.
If the predictions are correct, starting tomorrow afternoon (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), domestic gasoline and diesel prices will see a decrease in the first week of the Year of the Horse.
On the morning of the third day of the Lunar New Year (February 19th), the retail price of RON 95-III gasoline (the most common type on the market) remained stable at below 20,000 VND/liter. This price level has also been maintained quite steadily throughout the past year.
