(BLC) - On the morning of May 20, the provincial Badminton Clubs held the opening ceremony of the 2023 VINA-STAR Cup Badminton Tournament at the Provincial Federation of Labor Sports Hall. Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Vuong Duc Loi - Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor Badminton Club, Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee; sponsors, athletes and fans.
The Organizing Committee presented souvenir flags to Badminton Clubs.
The tournament had 118 athletes from 17 badminton clubs in the province competing in 678 matches. Accordingly, the athletes competed in a round-robin format in 7 events, including: women's doubles, men's doubles, mixed doubles in all age groups.
Comrade Vuong Duc Loi - Head of the Organizing Committee gave the opening speech.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vuong Duc Loi - Head of the Organizing Committee emphasized: The tournament is organized to continue responding to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life. At the same time, this is an opportunity for badminton enthusiasts to meet, exchange experiences, and improve their professional skills. Through the tournament, badminton talents are discovered and gathered to nurture and participate in major sports tournaments of the province.
The Organizing Committee awarded the Cup to the oldest athlete Bui Quang Minh - Badminton Club of the Departmentof Education and Training.
Immediately after the opening, the men's pairs entered the first matches.
On the morning of May 21, after 1.5 days of competition with exciting and dramatic matches of the athletes, the Organizing Committee of the 2023 VINA-STAR Cup Provincial Badminton Club Tournament held the closing ceremony of the Tournament.
The Organizing Committee of the 2023 VINA-STAR Cup Provincial Badminton Tournament awarded medals, cups, and bonuses to female athlete pairs in the non-plus women's category.
At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded medals, cups, and prizes to the pairs of athletes who won first, second, third, and consolation prizes in 7 competitions of the Tournament. The Badminton Club Tournament has been held since 2017 with 3 agencies: Lai Chau Newspaper, Lai Chau Clean Water Company, and Lai Chau City. This is the first year that the Badminton Club Tournament for the Provincial VINA-STAR Cup has been held on a large scale, gathering hundreds of athletes from Badminton Clubs in the province to participate. The success of the Tournament will be the premise for the Provincial Badminton Clubs to continue to organize it annually. Thereby, creating a healthy playground for those who love this sport, contributing to the strong development of the province's sports movement.
