The news that Binh Dinh - Vietnam Team will lead the 2024 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Indonesia and Binh Dinh province will host the second leg at the end of March has attracted the attention of Vietnamese sports fans. Considered an F1 race on water, Binh Dinh's hosting of the event at the end of this month is considered a great opportunity for Vietnam tourism in general and this locality in particular. Besides, it is also an opportunity to promote Vietnamese culture as well as the land of martial arts. In terms of sports, many people will want to learn more about the Formula 1 Powerboat Race so that they can have the opportunity to participate in the future. The Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship (also known as F1) is organized by the International Powerboat Federation (Union Internationale Motonautique - UIM) and promoted by H2O Racing, so it is often called F1H2O. This is the highest level of speedboat racing in the world and as such shares the F1 title, similar to Formula 1 racing. Each race lasts about 45 minutes. The race takes place at a pre-selected location, usually a lake, river, marina or bay.In addition to F1H2O, Quy Nhon of Binh Dinh will also host a race of the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship. The qualifying stages determine the format of each leg of the race, and timing equipment records the performance of the competitors to determine the final classification and award championship points. The idea for a water speed race originated in part in 1978, as a rivalry between two arch-rivals in engine manufacturing, Mercury and OMC. The first race was held in 1981. The F1 Powerboat Championship is a Grand Prix-style event, with teams competing around the world each season. In the 2013 season, a total of 23 drivers and 9 teams entered at least one race, with 16 boats competing full-time. Races take place along a 350-metre circuit with multiple turns, where boats can reach speeds of 250 km/h. The races are longer than most powerboat races at around 45 minutes, but still shorter than many car races. In addition to the F1H2O taking place at Thi Nai Lagoon from March 29 to 31, the ABP - Aquabike water motorcycle race will also take place at this location from March 22 to 24. The tournament is also organized by UIM and H2O Racing is the promoter. The UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship is the most famous and prestigious international tournament to promote the type of single-rider jet skiing in the environment of water motorcycle racing and is one of the fastest, most spectacular water sports, requiring strict control techniques but also full of entertainment. The UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship started in 1992.Laodong.vn
