On December 7, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City National University organized the closing ceremony and award ceremony for the 27th Euréka Student Scientific Research Award in 2025.
This year's Euréka Prize was implemented from July to December 2025, attracting 2,179 topics from more than 7,500 candidates from 161 universities, academies and colleges nationwide.
The topics are in 15 fields, including information technology; food technology; administration-law; chemistry; educational science; agricultural science; social science; medical-pharmaceutical science; economics ; engineering technology; planning-architecture and construction; biology; resources and environment; culture-arts and physics.
As a result, 192 excellent topics were awarded, including 15 First prizes, 15 Second prizes, 21 Third prizes and 141 Encouragement prizes. Some typical first prize-winning topics in the fields include: "Improving multimedia queries with high-level structured visual metadata in the problem of retrieving video information and life diary information" (Ho Le Minh Quan and Ho Duy Khang, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City); "Optimizing nutritional and lighting conditions in cultivating Wolffia globosa - A breakthrough for a nutritious green food source in Vietnam" (Nguyen Dinh Tri, Vo Minh Dat and Tran Van Hieu, Yersin University, Dalat); The need for psychosocial support and related factors in cancer patients at the Department of Chemotherapy - University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City (Huynh Thuy Vy, Dao Quang Nghia and Le Thi Ngoc Nguyen, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City),…
At the ceremony, Nguyen Dinh Tri, representative of the Wolffia globosa research group, shared that being honored with the Euréka award is a great source of motivation for the group to continue pursuing research on green food and sustainable development.
The team spent more than 6 months of continuous experimentation, adjusting each light and nutritional parameter to find the optimal model.
We hope that the research results will be widely applied, opening up more nutritious food options for the community, and at the same time contributing to promoting green agriculture in the country.
Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Secretary Ngo Minh Hai said that this year's finalists recorded a clear breakthrough in new research trends, notably the group of topics applying artificial intelligence and automation in most fields.
Numerous studies on sustainable development, green economy, renewable energy, smart cities, public health and the environment demonstrate students' sense of social responsibility and long-term vision.
Content on big data, digital security, digital transformation in management and life, and cultural and social issues such as mental health, education, heritage and traditional arts also account for a significant proportion.
Many topics have been implemented or signed memorandums of understanding for application by agencies and units. Among them is the project "Research on manufacturing silver nano in chrysanthemum flower extract and evaluating antibacterial and antifungal properties," which was transferred to Vinh Phat Limited Liability Company for research and application in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics; or the topic "Developing the night-time economy in Ben Thanh Ward," which was put into practice by the People's Committee of Ben Thanh Ward in urban management.
The above results show that the Euréka Award continues to promote its role as a “knowledge transfer ecosystem,” creating conditions for students’ research ideas to be linked to the development, innovation and digital transformation practices of Ho Chi Minh City.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Ngo Minh Hai hopes that the Euréka Award and the Youth Union's innovation support programs will continue to be a platform for students to experiment, develop and spread scientific ideas bearing the mark of the city's young minds.
The programs encourage students to boldly choose topics related to the City's breakthrough requirements such as urban infrastructure, regional connectivity, artificial intelligence, green economy, circular economy and cultural industry./.
