Reduced loan interest for customers affected by natural disasters

Accordingly, a series of commercial banks have stepped in to reduce interest rates, postpone debt, and provide capital support to people and businesses early. Measures include ensuring treasury safety, payment systems, cash supply, and immediately implementing preferential credit packages that reduce loan interest rates or do not collect late payment interest. Loan packages are designed with competitive interest rates, flexible procedures, and quick disbursement times, helping customers easily access capital and optimize cash flow, to quickly overcome the effects of natural disasters and restore production and business.

On November 27, Nam A Bank announced a preferential loan interest rate program for customers affected by natural disasters in the North and Central regions, especially in heavily damaged areas such as Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Dak Lak , Lam Dong. Nam A Bank reduced interest rates by up to 2% in the first 3 months for both new and existing business customers; exempted all payment account transactions and committed to consulting flexible financial solutions to stabilize capital sources. For individual customers, this bank reduced interest rates by up to 2%, increased the loan limit to 85% of the value of the collateral and applied a principal grace period of up to 12 months. These policies last until February 13, 2026.

The Bank for Industry and Trade ( VietinBank ) has also just reviewed the damage situation of customers in the storm and flood areas and implemented a preferential credit package until the end of 2025. A representative of this Bank said that it will reduce loan interest rates by a maximum of 2 percentage points compared to the normal level, and the approval process will be shortened so that people and businesses can quickly access capital to repair houses, restore production and business, supplement working capital or invest in new machinery. "We prioritize maximum disbursement speed so that customers' work is not interrupted" - a representative of VietinBank affirmed.

An Binh Bank (ABBANK) also reduced interest rates by up to 2.8 percentage points for individual customers and small and medium-sized enterprises with existing loans in disaster areas. Short-term loans for enterprises are supported for 3 months, while medium and long-term loans are preferentially applied for 6 months.

Ms. Phung Thi Binh, Deputy General Director of Agribank , informed that immediately after the flood, this Bank directed the entire system to deploy emergency support measures for people and businesses. Accordingly, based on the outstanding debt as of November 19, Agribank immediately reduced the interest rate by 1% for all affected customers. Depending on the level of damage, the Bank can reduce the interest rate by 2%, not collect late payment interest, and adjust the overdue interest rate to 100% of the interest rate within the term from November 19, 2025 to February 18, 2026.
