Maintain school size

After the process of arranging and merging administrative units according to the Central Government's policy, many localities have been making efforts to adapt to stabilize the apparatus and public services, including the education sector.

In Thanh Hoa , the education sector not only maintains a stable scale of the school network, but also gradually improves quality, meeting the requirements of innovation and comprehensive development.

According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa, at the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the education system of Thanh Hoa province currently has 2,001 schools, excluding vocational schools; the total number of classes from preschool to high school is 29,158, with nearly 1 million students and preschool children.

Despite the process of merging administrative units at commune and district levels, the province's school network is still maintained and organized reasonably, suitable to local characteristics.

At the preschool level, the province has 678 schools (631 public, 47 non-public), with 8,781 classrooms, serving more than 215,000 children. The preschool education system is diverse and flexible, meeting the increasing demand for childcare, especially in urban areas and remote areas.

At the primary and primary-secondary level, there are 588 schools (583 public, 5 private), including 10,985 classrooms, with more than 350,600 students. Of these, there are 74 inter-level schools (71 public, 3 non-public), contributing to improving the effectiveness of management and teaching between levels.

At the secondary level, Thanh Hoa province currently has 607 public schools, with 6,703 classrooms and more than 257,900 students. At the high school level, there are 105 schools (89 public, 16 private), with 2,629 classrooms, meeting the learning needs of 108,862 students.

In addition, the continuing education and vocational training system has 23 vocational training centers and public vocational secondary schools, contributing to expanding lifelong learning opportunities and career orientation for students after secondary school.

Mr. Ta Hong Luu - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa, informed: "Maintaining a stable number of schools and students in the context of streamlining the organizational apparatus is a great success, demonstrating the attention of the Party, the State and the initiative and flexibility of the education sector. The school system is evenly distributed, avoiding overload or shortage of places to study, ensuring the right to study of students throughout the area".

Ensuring team quality

One of the key factors ensuring the quality of education is the team of managers, teachers and staff.

By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, Thanh Hoa province has 47,834 people working in the education sector. Of which: Preschool level: 16,825 people; Primary level: 14,764 people; Secondary level: 10,925 people and High school level: 5,317 people.

In addition to teachers, administrative staff, school health workers, security guards, librarians, etc. are also relatively fully deployed, contributing to the effective and professional operation of educational institutions.

The management staff at all levels is arranged scientifically and reasonably, creating favorable conditions for managing professional activities and implementing emulation movements in the school.

However, currently, Thanh Hoa Education sector is still lacking thousands of teachers, mainly at preschool and primary levels, which are large-scale and have high work pressure.

The shortage of teachers occurs in most localities in the province, significantly affecting the quality of teaching and the implementation of innovation in general education programs.

Faced with that reality, the Thanh Hoa Education sector has been proposing urgent solutions such as: Recruiting additional teachers, reasonably transferring teachers between regions; at the same time, enhancing training and improving professional capacity for the existing team.

Along with the staff improvement, Thanh Hoa Education sector also actively innovates the curriculum, textbooks, teaching methods; focuses on developing students' qualities and abilities; enhances the application of information technology in teaching and educational management.

Overall, it can be affirmed that after the merger of administrative units, Thanh Hoa Education sector has maintained a stable scale, ensured quality, and at the same time demonstrated quick adaptation to changes in practice. From the school network to the teaching staff, all factors are organized scientifically, synchronously and effectively.

“In the coming time, the Department of Education and Training will propose that Thanh Hoa province continue to prioritize investment in education, both in terms of human resources and facilities, and modernize schools to meet the requirements of innovation and sustainable development. The results achieved in the past time are an important foundation for the province to confidently enter a new phase with the goal of improving the quality of comprehensive education, serving the local socio-economic development,” said Mr. Ta Hong Luu - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa.
