Head of the Central Economic Commission, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang received a delegation of dignitaries and officials of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on the occasion of the delegation's visit to Hanoi .
Also attending the reception were Deputy Head of the Government Office Cao Huy and Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vu Hoai Bac.
At the reception, Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Chief of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, thanked the Head of the Central Economic Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang for taking the time to receive the delegation.
Regarding the activities of the Vietnam Buddhist Lay Association of Pure Land, Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Anh said that the Association has always been close to and accompanied the nation throughout 90 years of formation and development with the motto of "Studying - doing good - benefiting the country - benefiting the people".

The Church always unites with religions throughout the country, always linking religious activities with social security care for people in difficult circumstances, especially in the health sector.
Currently, the Church has 212 congregations from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, each of which has a Phuoc Thien herbal medicine clinic with a total of 1.5 million followers and members; 434 dignitaries; 2,688 officials; 3,815 doctors, medical students and more than 10,000 volunteers who carry out the planting, processing, transporting and exchanging of medicinal herbs.
During the third term (2019-2024), Phuoc Thien traditional medicine clinics have treated more than 16.3 million people, distributed more than 66.9 million free prescriptions... along with social security activities, thereby contributing to society equivalent to more than 2,461 billion VND.

Phuoc Thien medical activities of the Church aim to implement the Party and State's policies on socialization in the medical field, contributing to the preservation and development of traditional medicine of the nation.
In provinces and cities, branches regularly open basic catechism classes for believers and members to study and grasp the Church's guidelines and methods of practice; open many basic catechism courses, training courses, and catechism lectures.
Recently, the Church successfully held its 4th Congress of Delegates for the 2024-2029 term. The Congress amended and supplemented the charter according to the Law on Religious Beliefs; completed specialized committees, amended internal rules and regulations, and elected 19 members to the Central Executive Committee of the Church.

In particular, comrade Tran Luu Quang highly appreciated the Church for taking care of the health of many people using traditional medicine methods, especially in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic when there was no vaccine and standard treatment regimen.
Comrade Tran Luu Quang believes and hopes that the Vietnam Buddhist Lay Association, under the guidance of the Central Executive Committee, will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity of the Association; strengthen coordination with the Government, organizations, and the Fatherland Front at all levels to better implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws; promote existing resources to preserve the national cultural identity, promote religious activities associated with social security activities; join hands and hearts to build the homeland to develop more and more strongly, and the spirit of solidarity between religion and life will become increasingly stronger.

The founder of the Pure Land Buddhist Lay Association of Vietnam was Mr. Nguyen Van Bong, born in 1886 in Tan My commune, An Thanh Thuong canton, Sa Dec province, now Dong Thap province. He was honored by his followers as the Supreme Master Minh Tri - the Patriarch of the Pure Land Buddhist Lay Association of Vietnam.
