Friendship exchange between Vietnamese and Lao youth and students in 2025

On the evening of December 2, the Provincial Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province, and the Vietnam Student Association of Nghe An province organized the Vietnam - Laos Youth and Student Friendship Exchange Program 2025. The program had the participation of more than 200 Lao youth and students studying and living in Nghe An.

The activity is held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2025) and the 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane (December 13, 1920 - December 13, 2025).

Speaking at the program, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Ho Phuc Hai affirmed that, promoting the precious sentiments that the two Parties and the two States have worked hard to cultivate, in recent times, Nghe An youth have had many very effective coordination activities with the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union of Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, and Bolikhamxay provinces. These are provinces that share a border with Nghe An province.

Notable among these were the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, organizing visits by outstanding Youth Unions, exchanging and learning experiences in Youth Union work and youth movements.

Nghe An Provincial Youth Union also always pays attention to and directs communes sharing borders with Laos to establish youth volunteer teams to maintain border peace and organize exchange activities to establish twinning relationships between pairs of villages sharing borders.

On the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of the Lao People's Democratic Republic every year, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee coordinates with the Youth Unions of universities and colleges to organize cultural and artistic exchange activities, Vietnamese speaking competitions; organize visits and New Year greetings to Lao students living and studying at universities and colleges in Nghe An province.

The activities of international youth volunteer groups in the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign in recent years have left many positive impressions, highly appreciated by local leaders and people. These activities have contributed to strengthening the relationship and expanding the space for cooperation between the youth of the two countries.

The program also included an exchange discussion between Lao students studying at Nghe An University and Nghe An students who have studied, lived and carried out volunteer activities in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Through this, young people and students from both countries shared their thoughts, learning experiences, movement activities, as well as memorable memories during their studies in the two countries.

On this occasion, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union awarded 10 meaningful scholarships to 10 outstanding new students.
