Following the three-step process for nominating candidates for the 16th National Assembly and the Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term, and based on the results of the voter confidence assessment meeting at their workplaces, the delegates discussed and provided feedback on the nominated candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

Accordingly, 100% of the delegates present at the conference unanimously agreed to nominate Father John Baptist Nguyen Van Rien, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee, for the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to consult and nominate him as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly, term 2026-2031.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee unanimously agreed to nominate Father John Baptist Nguyen Van Rien (standing on the left) to run for election as a representative to the 16th National Assembly.

Earlier, at the conference to gather feedback and build trust from voters in his workplace, Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee, explained the purpose, requirements, and standards for National Assembly delegates. The delegates unanimously agreed that Father Nguyen Van Rien possesses the moral character, competence, and prestige necessary to meet the requirements for candidacy in the 16th National Assembly.

Father John Baptist Nguyen Van Rien, born on December 20, 1955; hometown: Tan Tien commune, Hung Yen province; residing at St. Joseph's parish, Hoa Phu 5 neighborhood, Binh Duong ward, Ho Chi Minh City; was a member of the National Assembly for the 14th term (2016-2021) and the 15th term (2021-2026).
