Based on the announcement of the Politburo , the Secretariat of the Central Committee, and the regulations and guidelines of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front regarding the nomination of candidates for the National Assembly, on January 18th, the State Bank of Vietnam organized a conference to gather opinions from voters at her workplace regarding Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Member of the Party Committee of the Government, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam - to nominate her as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly, term 2026-2031.

At the conference, voters heard a brief biography of Governor Nguyen Thi Hong and were informed about the legal regulations regarding the standards and conditions for running for National Assembly representative.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong is a well-trained cadre with strong political convictions, impeccable moral character, exemplary lifestyle, and high prestige within the Party and the political system.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong was born in 1968 in Hanoi. She received professional training in Foreign Exchange Management (at the Advanced Banking School, now the Banking Academy); and holds a Master's degree in Development Economics (from the National Economics University and the Netherlands Institute of Social Sciences). Her political theory level is Advanced.

From January 1991 to the present, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong has worked and held many leadership and management positions at the State Bank of Vietnam. Since November 2020, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong has been approved by the National Assembly to hold the position of Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.

For her contributions during her career, Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong was awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal in 2013, the Second-Class Labor Medal in 2018, the First-Class Labor Medal in 2025, and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister in 2011, 2019, and 2021.

At the conference, voters assessed that Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong possesses all the necessary qualities, capabilities, and qualifications to represent the voice of the sector and run for election to the country's highest legislative body.

Voters highly appreciate the significant contributions of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong to the development of the banking sector. In particular, during her recent term, facing unprecedented difficulties and challenges, with her scientific, democratic, and thorough leadership style, and her willingness to think outside the box, take action, and assume responsibility, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong demonstrated the leadership qualities of a true leader. She consistently set an example, working together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Leadership Board of the State Bank of Vietnam in unity and consensus to lead, direct, and implement the Party and State's policies and resolutions, as well as the sector's strategies and plans, in a synchronized, creative, timely, and highly effective manner, successfully fulfilling her assigned responsibilities and duties.

The achievements of the banking sector have made a positive contribution to macroeconomic stability, inflation control, and economic growth. The monetary and foreign exchange markets are stable; the legal framework for monetary and banking institutions is being gradually improved, helping to remove bottlenecks and ensure safe and sound banking operations; the mandatory transfer of four weak commercial banks (after one year of implementation, these banks have stabilized and are beginning to make profits or reduce losses); proactive and pioneering in digital transformation and innovation; promoting administrative reform; being one of the first ministries and sectors to complete the reorganization of its structure towards a streamlined, effective, and efficient system, ensuring smooth, safe, and uninterrupted operations without affecting businesses and citizens.

As a member of the Government and head of the banking sector, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong has always demonstrated a high sense of responsibility, thorough preparation, and a proactive approach in questioning sessions at the National Assembly, listening to and promptly addressing the suggestions of voters and businesses.

Voters appreciate Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong's leadership and macroeconomic management capabilities, strategic vision, and ability to forecast and effectively handle complex, sensitive, and urgent issues. She also regularly contributes opinions to policy planning and identifies and proposes practical issues for consideration and decision-making by competent authorities. Through confidence votes in the National Assembly and the State Bank of Vietnam, Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong has consistently received high levels of confidence.

Following democratic discussions, 100% of the voters at the State Bank of Vietnam unanimously agreed to nominate Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Immediately afterwards, the State Bank of Vietnam continued to organize an expanded meeting of its leadership and a meeting of the Standing Committee of the State Bank of Vietnam's Party Committee in accordance with regulations. These meetings once again unanimously nominated Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong to run for the 16th National Assembly.

The fact that Governor Nguyen Thi Hong was nominated by 100% of voters in her workplace to run for National Assembly representative not only fully meets the conditions and standards to assume the important responsibility of a National Assembly representative, but also demonstrates the trust and expectations of her agency and unit regarding her contribution to the activities of the 16th National Assembly, aiming to build legal policies and make decisions on important issues in the new era of the country.
