On the morning of November 14, at Phan Dinh Phung High School, Ha Tinh Library coordinated with Phan Dinh Phung High School to introduce the novel "Before Dawn" by Dr. - writer Tran Thi Hao.
Attending the program were Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission Duong Tat Thang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Nguyet; representatives of a number of departments, branches and cultural researchers inside and outside the province.

“Before Dawn” is the latest novel by writer Tran Thi Hao. The book is 250 pages thick, published by the Writers Association Publishing House in 2025. The work focuses on reflecting social life in Northern Vietnam (including Ha Tinh) during the war and post-war period, from the 1950s to the 1990s.

Through the new perspective of the female writer, the people of Ha Tinh in particular and Vietnam in general appear with many beautiful landscapes and outstanding values such as patriotism, solidarity, loyalty...

At the book introduction, many literary researchers and writers inside and outside the province discussed and exchanged about the values of the novel "Before Dawn".
Opinions say that the work has a fresh perspective on the topic of war and post-war, through memories from the author's youth in his homeland and the fictional character of the novel genre. The work is a bridge to help domestic and international readers better understand the people and culture of Ha Tinh and Vietnam during the difficult days of the country.

Tran Thi Hao (from Ha Tinh) is the author of many novels written in Vietnamese and French that have been recognized by readers, including some works that have been included in grammar education programs in France.
Her typical works include: the short story collection Illusion of Studying Abroad (2006); novels such as: Ngan (2007), The Girl and the War (La jeune fille et la guerre, 2007), Bong mai vang truong gio (Golden Apricot Blossom Before the Wind) (2009), Love Story of Queen Nam Phuong (2010), Before Dawn (2025)...

In 2018, writer Tran Thi Hao was awarded the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Government. In 2023, she was awarded the Grand Prix by the French Academy, honoring "Illuminating the French Language and French Literature" - an award recognizing the writer's contributions through literary works written or translated in French.


Writer Tran Thi Hao, born in 1957 in Thanh Sen ward, Ha Tinh province, is a former student of Phan Dinh Phung High School, school year 1971-1974.
She holds a PhD in French Literature from Sorbonne University Paris IV. Before that, she taught French and French Literature at Hanoi University for many years. She is now retired and lives with her family in France.
