Mr. Nguyen Huu Que (born in 1973) and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh (born in 1974) in Tri Le village, Dong Kinh commune are often sick, have to go to the hospital all year round, and have to raise 5 children to go to school, so for the past few years they have always been among the poor and near-poor households in the commune. Due to economic difficulties and limited resources, their level 4 house has deteriorated but cannot be repaired or upgraded; for many years they have had to endure the conditions of leakage, heat, and danger.
Fortunately, at the beginning of this year, Mr. Que and Ms. Thanh's family received 70 million VND from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025 (abbreviated as the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program) to "settle down". Thanks to the locality's attention, the encouragement of the village, the help of the brothers, and the determination of the homeowner, the solid house of 120 m2 , worth more than 250 million VND, was completed and put into use 5 months ago.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Que excitedly said: “Without the care, support, and help of superiors and kind-hearted people, my family would certainly not have been able to have this dream house. The house not only brings happiness to my family but also spreads joy to my brothers and neighbors. Now that my family is living in a new house, we are determined to take care of our health and work towards a stable job to soon escape the list of poor households.”
Tran Thi Ngoc (born in 1988) and her children in the same Tri Le village are also rejoicing in the joy of living in a new house. Her husband unfortunately passed away in an accident, she has to raise 2 small children, her job is unstable... so the support of 70 million VND from the poverty reduction program is truly a meaningful gift that helped her and her children live in a new house 4 months ago.

Ms. Ngoc was moved: “Sympathizing with the situation of the mother and her three children, the Poverty Reduction Program, relatives, and kind-hearted people have “inspired” and “lit the fire” so that we can have a house of more than 100 square meters, worth 200 million VND. Now, I consider this loving home as the motivation and foundation to gradually overcome all difficulties, raise good children, and move towards a brighter future.”
With the spirit of "For the poor - Leaving no one behind", in the period of 2021 - 2025, the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program in the former communes of Thach Kenh, Thach Lien and Ich Hau (now Dong Kinh) has focused on calling on benefactors and volunteers, mobilizing all resources to build 122 solid houses (each house supports 50 - 100 million VND depending on the subject, depending on the time) for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households. These houses of charity, solidarity houses, and charity houses have been solidly built, ensuring "3 hard", suitable for the living conditions of households and local customs and practices.

To "support" the disadvantaged to have a solid house, together with the Party Committee, local government, Fatherland Front, organizations, and residential areas have also shown their roles and responsibilities well. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu - President of the Women's Union of Dong Kinh commune said: "In addition to the cash support, we have called on members and villagers to participate in cleaning houses, collecting materials, arranging gardens, planting more trees... for the beneficiaries to build houses. In addition, we have also mobilized women to support and donate small-value materials, buy and donate household items, and encourage disadvantaged households to rise up...".

Mr. Phan Van Tai - Vice Chairman of Dong Kinh Commune People's Committee assessed: The poverty reduction program has been implemented promptly, to the right target, and effectively in Dong Kinh Commune; in which the best is the mobilization of social resources to build houses for disadvantaged people. These houses not only demonstrate the affection and responsibility of all levels, sectors, and the whole society, but also have a great impact on the good implementation of social security policies, improving housing criteria in building new rural areas, and improving the material and spiritual life in the area.
“These houses imbued with the Party’s and people’s sentiments are considered the foundation and support to help poor and near-poor households achieve the goal of “starting a business” to escape poverty sustainably and become prosperous. Therefore, in the coming time, we will continue to promote the results we have achieved, focusing on mobilizing all resources, especially socialized resources, to have more meaningful houses,” Mr. Phan Van Tai added.
