Google has just announced a major update to the Google Photos app, integrating a series of new features powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance users' editing, searching and interaction capabilities.
Specifically, the update adds a photo editing tool using voice or text, allowing users to make requests like “Remove John’s sunglasses” or “Make Sarah smile,” from which the AI automatically recognizes and adjusts details in the photo.
The “Help Me Edit” feature is now available on iOS in the US, after a limited testing period on some Android devices.
The highlight of this update is the appearance of the AI Nano Banana model, allowing users to turn regular photos into artistic portraits, comic book style or classic illustrations.
Google Photos also has a redesigned editing interface, adding an "Ask" button to help users look up information related to images such as shooting time, similar moments or request editing by voice.
In addition, the AI search feature has also been expanded to more than 100 countries and regions, supporting 17 new languages, including Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Japanese and Portuguese.
According to experts, this update shows Google's efforts to bring AI generation and natural language processing (NLP) deeper into mobile applications, thereby turning Google Photos into not only an image storage platform, but also an intelligent creative assistant for global users./.
