Gathering love, bringing spring back to Tra Lien.

DNO - In the days leading up to the 2026 Lunar New Year, the warmth of spring arrived early in the mountainous region of Tra Lien thanks to the sharing efforts of students from Nguyen Binh Khiem Specialized High School. With over 25 million VND in Tet gifts raised through small acts of kindness, the students spread compassion and connected the community.

A small stall - a great lesson in kindness.

In the final days of the year, Tran Phu Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School (Tra Lien commune) became bustling with activity thanks to the arrival of a volunteer group from Nguyen Binh Khiem Specialized High School (Ban Thach ward) with their program "Spring Connection - Warm Sunshine in the Highlands".

Preparations for the trip took several weeks. A highlight was the fundraising activity, which was conceived and executed directly by the students.

The campus of Nguyen Binh Khiem Specialized High School has been transformed into a space for small stalls selling lucky money envelopes, notebooks, lanyards, and handmade items, each product containing the effort and heartfelt dedication of the students.

The students design, sell, calculate costs, and solicit donations themselves, creating a lively and meaningful atmosphere. Many parents, teachers, and alumni participate not only to buy products but also to support the students' character development journey.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Phong, a parent of a student at Nguyen Binh Khiem Specialized High School, said that what touched her was not the amount of money raised, but the fact that the students personally carried out each step of the process.

"The children learn to think of others and work to share, and that is the greatest gift the program has given them," Ms. Phong shared.

According to Ms. Phong, directly participating in fundraising helps students understand that volunteering is not something far-fetched or simply about contributing money, but that every small action, if it comes from the heart, can create value.

"My family is very willing to participate, because I believe experiences like these will stay with my children throughout their journey of growing up," Ms. Phong added.

Along with funds raised by students, the program also received support from teachers, parents, alumni, and philanthropists. Through these collaborative efforts, the organizing committee was able to raise funds and provide practical supplies to Tra Lien.

Warmth given away, spring remains.

At Tran Phu Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, the volunteer group donated 40 school bags, 1,100 notebooks, and various other school supplies to 352 students.

In addition, 10 million VND in cash was given directly, bringing the total value of Tet gifts from the program to approximately 25 million VND.

Notably, the program also received and distributed 222 warm jackets donated by individuals and organizations. Although not new, the jackets are clean and warm, helping the children in the highlands cope with the cold, especially with Tet (Lunar New Year) approaching.

During this trip, the volunteer group also visited and presented gifts to five particularly disadvantaged households in Tra Lien commune, each gift consisting of 10kg of rice and 500,000 VND. This was timely encouragement, helping the families alleviate some of their worries in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year).

Do Thi Thuy Chi, a 7th-grade student at Tran Phu Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, shyly shared, holding her new schoolbag, that she was very happy and would try her best to study hard so as not to disappoint the volunteer team.

Along with gift-giving, the program included various activities such as storytelling, jigsaw puzzles, magic shows, balloon sculpting, sand art, group exercises, and commemorative photo sessions. The schoolyard was filled with laughter, becoming a space for students to play, socialize, and welcome an early spring season full of memories.

A heartwarming lunch was also organized right in the school's cafeteria. With a budget of over 3 million VND from the volunteer group, the students here received an additional nutritious meal, filled with love and togetherness.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tran Bao Duy, Secretary of the Youth Union at Nguyen Binh Khiem Specialized High School, the most valuable aspect is the students' initiative. They not only learn how to share, but also how to organize, connect, and take responsibility for their work – life skills not found in textbooks.

The bus departed from Tra Lien late in the afternoon, leaving behind lingering glances and persistent waving goodbyes. Spring was not only present in the gifts but also lingered in the memories of the highland students, the joy of the people, and the maturity of young people who knew how to give, even in the smallest ways.

The "Spring Connection - Warm Sunshine in the Highlands" campaign has come to an end, but the spirit of compassion from the lucky money envelopes, notebooks, and lanyards will continue to spread and warmly endure.
