Implementing the Politburo's policy on investing in building schools for border communes, Lao Cai province has invested in building 9 primary and secondary boarding schools in border communes and wards.

In 2025, Lao Cai province will build four primary and secondary boarding schools in A Mu Sung, Y Ty, Muong Khuong, and Pha Long communes from the central budget, provincial budget, and other legally mobilized capital sources. The schools will start construction in November 2025 and be completed in August 2026.

The remaining boarding schools in Ban Lau, Trinh Tuong, Si Ma Cai, Ban Vuoc and Ban Phiet communes will start construction in 2026 and be completed in 2027.

Muong Khuong Secondary School was built a long time ago, many items are degraded and lack subject classrooms.

Muong Khuong Secondary School currently has over 850 students in 22 classes. The school was built in 2008, and some of its facilities are now in disrepair; it lacks 6 subject classrooms. The school has not yet built a multi-purpose building, so implementing educational activities is difficult.

When receiving information about the State's investment in building the Muong Khuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School, teachers and students of the school eagerly awaited it, because this was an opportunity and favorable condition for students to study, practice and live in a spacious and modern school.

Teacher San Thi Ha, Vice Principal of Muong Khuong Secondary School, said: The investment in building an inter-level boarding school in Muong Khuong commune will effectively contribute to improving the quality of education as well as improving living conditions for local boarding students.

The Muong Khuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project was built in Ma Tuyen village with an area of ​​over 8.2 hectares; total investment of 215 billion VND. The school invested in building blocks of classrooms, head office, dormitory, dining room - kitchen, multi-purpose house and auxiliary items; invested in school equipment to meet the needs of 28 classes with a total of 980 students. After completion, the school is guaranteed to meet the level 2 facility standards according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Coordinating the project implementation, the People's Committee of Muong Khuong commune directed the specialized department to organize propaganda for people affected by the project, creating consensus and high unanimity in site clearance work.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Hung, Chairman of Muong Khuong Commune People's Committee informed: Through the survey, there are 74 households in the area that have cleared the land to serve the construction project. All households are excited and agree with the implementation of the project. The local government has completed the determination of land origin, statistics and pricing; committed to handing over the land to the construction unit on schedule.

A Mu Sung Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities currently has 570 students. The facilities are both lacking and inconsistent, so the school has to share a cultural classroom and a subject room. In addition, 2 other classes are being temporarily arranged in the boarding house. For many years, the school's staff, teachers, employees and students have always dreamed of having a new, spacious school that meets the requirements of teaching and learning.

The A Mu Sung Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School project will be built in Tung Sang village with an area of ​​nearly 6.8 hectares; total investment of 250 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of A Mu Sung Commune informed: During the project construction, 10 households and organizations in the area were affected. Currently, the local authorities have basically finished measuring, counting, and pricing the areas to soon hand over the construction site.

The Pha Long Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project is built on an area of ​​6.5 hectares; total investment is 220 billion VND. The Y Ty Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project is built on an area of ​​5.4 hectares; total investment is 260 billion VND.

Schools will be invested in building functional buildings and auxiliary items, technical infrastructure, ensuring that they meet level 2 facility standards as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training. Schools are designed and built towards synchronization and modernity but still flexible to adapt to the terrain and climate of each region.

It is expected that on November 9, Lao Cai province will simultaneously start construction of the above four schools.

Mr. Hoang Trong Chuyen, Deputy Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, added: To implement the construction of 4 schools in border areas in 2025, the unit has specifically assigned each project to specialized departments to carry out related tasks; identified reputable and capable contractors to undertake the construction, and at the same time coordinated with the locality to resolve arising issues with the highest determination to implement and construct the projects to ensure progress and quality.
