The French Order of Academic Palms recognizes Professor Do Van Dai's significant contributions to the development of relations between France and Vietnam.

The French Embassy in Vietnam has just announced the conferment of the title of Knight - Order of Academic Palms (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes académiques) by decree of the French Prime Minister to Professor Do Van Dai - Vice Rector of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.

French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet sent his congratulations to Professor Dai, stating that this prestigious award reflects France's recognition of his significant contributions to the development of relations between France and Vietnam.

"His dedication and dynamism have played and continue to play a key role in strengthening legal cooperation between the two countries, particularly in exchanges between legal practitioners, academics, and students, thereby enlivening the Francophone legal community in Vietnam. The Embassy will soon contact him regarding the organization of this medal awarding ceremony," said the French Ambassador to Vietnam.

Mr. Do Van Dai was born in 1974 in Bac Giang province. He was the top-scoring student in the entrance exam to Hanoi Law University and enrolled in the law program there in 1993.

In 1994, he was one of the top 10 university graduates in Vietnam selected to study in France, continuing his studies for a Bachelor of Law degree at Aix-en-Provence, Aix-Marseille III University, graduating in 1999.

In the same year, he pursued a master's degree in business law at Aix-en-Provence and defended his master's thesis in 2000.

From 2001 to 2003, he was a doctoral student at Aix-Marseille III University and successfully defended his doctoral thesis there.

In March 2005, he passed the French national examination for the title of Maître de conférences (a title below that of a university professor in France). He has lectured at several French universities and the Royal University of Cambodia.

Since 2007, he has worked at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law. In 2008, Dr. Do Van Dai was appointed head of the Civil Law Department. In 2011, he was given the role of acting head of the Civil Law Faculty and later became the head of the Faculty.

In 2024, he was appointed Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law. He was recognized by the State Council of Professors as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor in 2011 and Professor in 2021.

The Order of Academic Palms (or Academic Palms) is a French honorary order, originating in 1808 when it was established by Napoleon I to honor outstanding members of the French University.

This medal is awarded primarily to individuals within the French Ministry of Education and Training, as well as foreigners who have made significant contributions to the spread of French culture worldwide.

Many Vietnamese scientists, administrators, educators, and cultural figures have been awarded this medal in the past.
