Hanoi launches electric bicycle rental service for the first time

A representative of TNG Company said that from the end of November, 500 electric bicycles for rent will be put into operation. These electric bicycles will operate in parallel at mechanical bicycle rental points that TNG is deploying on many streets in Hanoi .

Next, in the first quarter of 2026, TNG plans to expand its scale to 2,000 to 5,000 electric bicycles for rent. The range of electric bicycles for rent will operate mainly in the areas within Ring Road 1 and Ring Road 2.

Public bicycles are being deployed by TNG Company on many streets of Hanoi.

According to TNG Company's plan, each electric bicycle is expected to serve an average of 5 trips/day, equivalent to a total of 250,000 trips/day; 7.5 million trips/month; 90 million trips/year.

The electric bike rental price is 20,000 VND/30 minutes; 35,000 VND/60 minutes, the longer the rental period, the more incentives and discounts customers will receive.

Mr. Do Ba Quan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of TNG Transport Joint Stock Company said that the replication of the model aims to gradually replace motorbikes using fossil fuels in the inner city area, contributing to the formation of a green, smart, zero-emission personal transport network, while promoting the development of a more efficient, comprehensive and community-friendly public transport system.

Previously, from August 2023, Tri Nam Digital Transport Joint Stock Company was the unit that introduced public bicycle service in Hanoi. In the first pilot phase, Tri Nam deployed this model at 79 stations in the capital, with 1,000 vehicles. The stations are arranged in connection with bus stops, parks, and tourist attractions, ensuring that people can walk to access the service conveniently.
