According to observations by Tien Phong reporters in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of 2026, cold rain enveloped Hanoi . At major flower collection points such as Lac Long Quan, To Huu, and My Dinh, many small traders had to set up tarpaulins and temporary tents right on the sidewalks to sleep and guard their goods.

As night fell, the drizzle and cold wind caused the temperature to drop sharply, and the vendors huddled together, wrapping themselves in layers of warm clothing to protect themselves from the cold.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Dat (from Tuyen Quang province) carefully covers each kumquat tree along Le Quang Dao street. Despite enduring the biting cold day and night, Mr. Dat perseveres, hoping to sell all his goods in time to return home for Tet (Lunar New Year).

Sitting by the crackling fire at midnight, Mrs. Kim Anh (from Lac Long Quan Street) shared her worries about slow sales as the rain poured down, leaving no customers all day. Although she had been tending her peach blossoms for a week, these were the most difficult nights, battling the cold rain while anxiously waiting for buyers.

Bringing apricot blossoms from the South to Hanoi, Mr. Hoang Anh felt the biting cold of 10 degrees Celsius. He worried: "With the cold, the apricot blossoms won't bloom beautifully, so customers aren't very interested yet." Despite this, the man patiently persevered, hoping that purchasing power would pick up in the days leading up to Tet.

In contrast to the daytime hustle and bustle, at night only the quiet figures of small traders remain, watching over their stalls.

To ensure their health, many vendors have to install extra heaters inside their stalls. Even so, the 10°C chill still seeps through the gaps in the thin tarpaulin, making the nights spent guarding their stalls seem even longer.

According to vendors, the number of customers is still very low at the moment, so they hope that after the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month, when shopping demand increases, business will improve.
