According to the Northern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station, due to the influence of the southeastern edge of the developing and expanding hot low-pressure area in the West, Hanoi will experience hot weather on May 23rd and 24th; the highest temperature will generally be 36-38 degrees Celsius. The period of intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, will be from 1 PM to 3 PM daily.

From the night of May 24th to May 28th, Hanoi was affected by the southeastern edge of a developing and expanding low-pressure system in the West; the weather was changeable, with hot and intensely hot days; there were scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the late afternoon and evening. Around the night of May 28th and throughout May 29th, Hanoi experienced thunderstorms, ending the heatwave.

The meteorological agency notes that temperatures in weather forecasts and actual outdoor temperatures can differ by 2-4 degrees Celsius, or even more, depending on the surface conditions such as concrete, asphalt, and glass. In addition to high temperatures, humidity in Hanoi is relatively low, at a minimum of 52-57%.

In the rest of the North, hot weather will continue on May 23rd and 24th, with some areas experiencing intense heat; the highest temperatures will generally be 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 37 degrees Celsius. The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang , the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will experience hot and intensely hot weather; the highest temperatures will generally be 36-38 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.

Due to the combined effects of intense heat and low humidity, the risk of explosions and fires in residential areas increases due to high electricity demand; at the same time, there is a potential risk of forest fires. Prolonged heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heatstroke in people exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.

People should limit going outside and working outdoors during hot hours; avoid sudden movements from air-conditioned rooms to the outdoors and vice versa to reduce the risk of heat shock…
