Yesterday, scorching heat blanketed the entire country, with the Lang area of Hanoi recording the highest temperature nationwide at 38.7 degrees Celsius. This is the temperature recorded in the weather station's shelter; in reality, residents of the capital, especially those in the central wards, experienced much higher temperatures due to the high percentage of paved and concrete roads and the density of traffic.
According to the forecast for today (May 24th), due to the influence of the southeastern edge of the developing and expanding hot low-pressure area in the west, Hanoi and the Northern Delta region will continue to be the focus of this heatwave with maximum temperatures of 37-39 degrees Celsius, and even over 39 degrees Celsius in some areas.
Specifically, the wards/communes of Ba Đình, Láng, Hoàn Kiếm, Thanh Xuân, Hà Đông, Hoàng Mai, Từ Liêm, Thượng Cát, Gia Lâm, and Thanh Trì may be the hottest areas with the highest temperatures today ranging from 38-40 degrees Celsius. Other wards/communes will experience temperatures between 37-39 degrees Celsius.

Other provinces/cities in the North continue to experience intense heat today, with temperatures rising compared to yesterday, reaching a maximum of 35-38 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 38 degrees Celsius in some areas. The lowest temperatures will be 25-28 degrees Celsius.
The hot weather is forecast to continue in the North until May 27th. From the evening and night of May 27th, the North may experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures gradually decreasing.
Today, Thanh Hoa to Hue will experience hot and intensely hot weather, with some areas experiencing exceptionally intense heat; scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the late afternoon and evening. Southwesterly winds will be at level 2-3. The lowest temperature will be 27-30 degrees Celsius, with some areas below 27 degrees. The highest temperature will be 35-38 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 39 degrees.

The South Central coastal region will experience hot and intensely hot weather today, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and tonight. Southwesterly winds will be at level 2-3. The lowest temperature will be 25-28 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 35-38 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.

Southern Vietnam will have sunny weather, with some areas experiencing hot conditions, especially in the eastern region. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the late afternoon and evening, with showers and thunderstorms in a few places at night. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
The lowest temperature will be 25-28 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 33-35 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, and in the eastern region 35-36 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 36 degrees Celsius.
Ho Chi Minh City will experience hot and sunny weather today, with scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening and night, and no rain tonight. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature will be 26-28 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 35-37 degrees Celsius.
The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting notes that the temperature forecast in heatwave bulletins and the actual perceived temperature outdoors may differ by 2-4 degrees, or even more, depending on surface conditions such as concrete, asphalt, the proportion of trees, and water bodies.
