On the afternoon of September 24, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee to listen to reports and give opinions on activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024). Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Dinh Thi Mai and leaders of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee also attended the conference. At the conference, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee listened to Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha, on behalf of the Party Committee of the Hanoi People's Committee, report on the implementation and preparation of the celebration activities. At the same time, it proposed to adjust the events to suit the context of the whole country focusing on supporting people suffering from damage caused by storms and floods. After that, the conference thoroughly discussed and considered each issue, giving specific opinions on the proposals of the Party Committee of the Hanoi People's Committee. Notably, many opinions suggested stopping the fireworks display on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital. In conclusion, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai highly agreed with the adjustment of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day. Ms. Hoai said that this was an act stemming from the solidarity of the people, demonstrating the responsibility of the capital and the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, with the whole country". The Standing Committee of the City Party Committee also directed to stop fireworks displays in all 30 districts, towns and cities on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day as before. Cultural and artistic events continued to be organized as planned. The Secretary of Hanoi requested the Party Committee of the City People's Committee to direct the consideration of adjusting the specific scope of each event to ensure practical significance, especially in the spirit of innovation, strongly oriented towards the people, promoting the participation, response and enjoyment of the people.
Previously, the Hanoi Capital Command proposed that the Hanoi People's Committee only organize fireworks displays at 1 location and 2 positions in Hoan Kiem District, from 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on October 10, 2024. Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Duyet - Commander of the Hanoi Capital Command - has just signed a document to the City People's Committee proposing to organize fireworks displays to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024). Specifically, in the proposal document, Lieutenant General Duyet said that in order to focus on overcoming the consequences caused by Typhoon Yagi and join hands to support people in areas that suffered serious damage to people and property, the Hanoi Capital Command proposed that the Hanoi People's Committee only organize fireworks displays at 1 location, 2 locations in Hoan Kiem district, from 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on October 10, 2024. The Capital Command proposed not to organize fireworks displays in the remaining 29 districts, towns and cities of Hanoi as planned.
