Capital tourism grows strongly, many new attractive products
Reporting at the conference, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Nguyen Tran Quang said that in 2025, the capital's tourism industry will continue to affirm its role as an economic sector with a stable growth rate and an increasingly expanding scale of operations. Management, planning, investment and development of tourism products are focused on, contributing to improving service quality and creating more attractiveness for Hanoi as a destination.

In the first 10 months of 2025, the total number of tourists to Hanoi reached 28.22 million, an increase of 21.9% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors reached 6.17 million (up 23.6%), and domestic visitors reached 22.05 million (up 21.4%). Total revenue from tourists reached about 108.22 trillion VND, an increase of nearly 20% over the same period. The average room occupancy rate reached 62.3%, reflecting the increasing demand for accommodation of tourists.
During the September 2 holiday alone, Hanoi welcomed about 2.16 million visitors, three times more than last year, of which international visitors reached more than 80,000, up 35%. Total tourism revenue reached about 4.5 trillion VND, up 80% over the same period in 2024.
In 2025, Hanoi tourism industry will also focus on completing many new and outstanding tourism models such as: agricultural and rural tourism products in Ung Thien commune, Bat Trang commune; Muong Coc community tourism destination (My Duc); eco-tourism model in Ba Vi; night tourism products associated with cultural and historical spaces of the Old Quarter, West Lake, Red River; river tourism routes and western tourism routes from the city center to Quoc Oai - Tay Phuong.
At the same time, Hanoi promotes socialization and attracts investment in the tourism sector. The city strives to have 2-3 more major tourism projects completed and put into operation by the end of 2025, such as: the office-hotel complex at Ly Thai To, the hotel complex 58 Tay Ho and Tien Bo Plaza.
In addition, the Department of Tourism coordinates with departments, branches and localities to complete the planning for conservation and exploitation of the value of key relics and landscapes, including the Huong Son complex and the West Lake area - locations expected to become the driving force for sustainable tourism development for Hanoi in the coming period.
Along with product development, Hanoi is promoting tourism promotion and digital transformation. The city's tourism industry is applying information technology to enhance the tourist experience - from destination search, service booking, to smart tourism experiences. At the same time, it also focuses on developing the domestic tourism market through links with provinces and cities in the Northwest, Northeast, North Central, South Central regions..., building new products to improve service quality and experience for tourists.
Regarding the international market, the City Department of Tourism continues to expand cooperation and promote the image of the Capital in key markets such as China, Northeast Asia and Europe. Hanoi will organize destination introduction programs (roadshows), participate in international tourism fairs and welcome Famtrip and Presstrip survey groups including foreign reporters and travel businesses to experience. In addition, the City also promotes cooperation within the framework of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, contributing to spreading the image of "Hanoi - a creative, cultured, civilized and modern city".

Strengthening propaganda and promotion of the capital's tourism image
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee Vu Ha highly appreciated the positive results of the tourism industry in the first 10 months of 2025. Notably, the total number of visitors and total revenue from tourism exceeded the plan; many new products were focused on development, digital transformation and promotion work achieved clear results; the image of Hanoi is increasingly affirmed as a civilized, friendly, and unique destination.
In order to make tourism propaganda and promotion more effective in the coming time, the Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission requested that press agencies focus on promoting the results of tourism development, emphasizing the industry's contribution to economic growth and building the image of a creative and modern Hanoi.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda on building a safe and civilized tourism environment, praising good models. At the same time, promptly reflect and orient public opinion on negative phenomena affecting the tourism image of the capital.
The Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission suggested promoting new tourism products and events such as agricultural tourism, community tourism, night tourism, cruise ship routes, cultural festivals; strengthening communication on digital platforms; promoting smart tourism, applying technology to improve the tourist experience.
In particular, the Deputy Head of the Standing Committee emphasized that external communication work needs to be further promoted, with many press products in English and other languages to promote the image of Hanoi to the world. The Hanoi Department of Tourism proactively provides information, closely coordinates with press agencies, promptly responds to issues of public concern, thereby contributing to spreading the image of "Hanoi - a more beautiful, more attractive, more professional destination" in the eyes of international friends.
