Strong shift towards 4.0 trend

According to the Center for Science and Technology Communication, the structure of science and technology enterprises in Hanoi is clearly reflecting the breakthrough of the information technology sector, thereby recording the trend of the 4.0 industrial revolution as well as the orientation of digital economic development and comprehensive digital transformation of the capital.

The rate of businesses formed from research results in software and computer programs reached 56.5%, showing that this is a group with a positive growth rate and is making a key contribution to the market of digital solutions, data and platforms serving state administration, business and social life.

In addition to information technology, the group of science and technology enterprises built on inventions, utility solutions and protected industrial designs accounts for 23.7%, reflecting the strong development trend of intellectual property, commercialization of inventions and the application of technical advances in production and business.

The City has also recognized a positive shift when many businesses proactively invest in research instead of depending on public capital; in which the group of businesses formed from the results of scientific and technological research without using the state budget accounts for 7.1%, while the group of businesses supported by the budget under 30% accounts for 6%.

In addition, the group of enterprises formed from research results in the field of plant varieties, fertilizers, and biological products accounts for 3.8%, continuing to play an important role in high-tech agriculture , especially in suburban production areas; enterprises formed from technology transfer contracts account for 2.2%, and enterprises based on scientific and technological results recognized by ministries, branches, and localities account for 0.7%, although the proportion is not large, it still contributes to spreading technology into production activities and life.

Support policies and innovation ecosystem

Not only superior in quantity, Hanoi is also a leading locality in building policies and implementing activities to support science and technology enterprises. The city focuses on implementing tasks such as: policy communication, consulting on procedures for recognizing science and technology enterprises, supporting the commercialization of research results, as well as organizing training on intellectual property, innovation and digital transformation.

In particular, Hanoi always focuses on developing an innovative startup ecosystem, through connecting research institutes, universities, businesses and investment funds to create the most favorable conditions for new technology businesses to form and expand.

With information technology enterprises accounting for the largest proportion, Hanoi's science and technology enterprise ecosystem is shifting strongly towards digitalization, innovation and global competitiveness, in line with the capital's development goals in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution and contributing to the realization of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on science and technology development.

In the coming period, Hanoi is expected to maintain its leading role in the country in developing science and technology enterprises and knowledge-based economy; at the same time, the City will persistently expand and consolidate support policies, promote investment in research and development, enhance technology transfer activities and promote innovation in the entire business community.
