Hanoi and Vientiane continue close and sustainable cooperation

Speaking at the talks, Comrade Anouphap Tounalom expressed his pleasure in welcoming the high-ranking delegation from Hanoi at a time when Laos is organizing important political activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; emphasizing that the visit once again demonstrates the close relationship between the two capitals.

On behalf of the Party Committee, Government and people of Hanoi , Comrade Nguyen Duy Ngoc congratulated the great and historic achievements that the Lao people have achieved after 50 years of founding the country and 40 years of implementing the renovation process, notably the stable GDP growth rate, the people's lives and per capita income have been increasingly improved; contributing to enhancing the role and position of Laos in the region and in the international arena.

On the basis of the special friendship between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos, the Party Committees, governments and people of the two capitals of Hanoi and Vientiane always cherish traditional cooperation, affirming that this is a key local cooperation in the overall Vietnam-Laos cooperation relationship.

The two leaders agreed to continue strengthening the comprehensive cooperation between the two cities in all channels and fields; deepening the achieved cooperation results and expanding new fields, comprehensively and substantially implementing the orientation to strengthen strategic ties in the bilateral relationship as agreed by the senior leaders, through projects connecting infrastructure, connecting the two economies and people-to-people exchanges between the two capitals.

The leaders of the two capitals highly appreciated the cooperation results achieved on the basis of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the period 2022-2025. Vientiane and Hanoi have jointly organized and implemented many effective cooperation activities, projects and programs; promoted annual exchanges of high-level delegations of city leaders, concretized strategic cooperation contents with 2 city-level agreements and 8 department-level agreements signed in fields such as: Party building, economy, investment, agriculture, health, education, people-to-people exchange, etc.

Educational cooperation activities, scholarship support, staff training, vocational training, agriculture, health; implementation of many exciting forms such as experience sharing seminars, investment cooperation forums jointly organized by the two sides have brought practical results in many aspects, reflecting the comprehensiveness, substance, support, and cooperation for mutual development between the two capitals of Hanoi and Vientiane.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in Party building and political system building; promote staff training programs and education and training cooperation; implement projects to support economic development of Vientiane Capital; in particular, promote economic and trade cooperation; organize investment, trade, tourism, cultural and people-to-people exchange activities on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty in the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2027.
