Previously, the Department of Finance submitted a document to the Hanoi People's Committee for approval of a plan to adjust clean water prices in the city. It is expected that the roadmap will be applied in 2023 and 2024.
The plan to adjust the price of clean water for daily life is as follows: The retail price of clean water for the first 10m3 (household/month) will increase from VND 5,973/m3 to VND 7,500/m3 from July 2023 and to VND 8,500/m3 in 2024; from 10-20m3 (household/month) will increase from VND 7,052/m3 to VND 8,800/m3 from July 2023 and to VND 9,900/m3 in 2024; from 20-30m3 (household/month) will increase from VND 8,669/m3 to VND 12,000/m3 and VND 16,000/m3, respectively.
The highest price for domestic water in 2024 will be VND 27,000/m3 when using over 30m3 (household/month).
Calculations show that with the actual water consumption demand in Hanoi in the inner city area at 100-150 liters/day/person, a household will use 10-16 m3/month, accordingly the additional amount to be spent is 15,000-26,000 VND/month.
In rural areas, the consumption level is 50-70 liters/day/person, then a household will have 6-8m3/month and the additional cost is 10,000-13,000 VND/month.
According to the Department of Finance, the planned increase basically does not affect the income of people who use clean water for daily life. If calculating water bills in the total income and expenditure of a household in an urban area in a month, it only accounts for 0.72%.
The proposed adjustment of clean water prices in Hanoi is equivalent to or lower than that in other provinces and cities. The amount to be paid for the first 10m3 of water in Hanoi is 75,000 VND/household, in Binh Duong it is 101,500 VND/household, in Quang Ninh it is 81,000 VND/household, in Dien Bien it is 80,000 VND/household...
