Ha Tinh: Body of fisherman found after boat sank at sea

On the morning of November 12, Mr. Nguyen Viet Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Loc Ha commune (Ha Tinh province) said that the authorities and local people had found the body of fisherman Nguyen Van H. (born in 1973, residing in Yen Diem village), the victim of the boat capsize that occurred on the afternoon of November 11.

On the evening of November 11, authorities and local people salvaged and pulled the boat in distress to shore.

Mr. H.'s body was found at around 4 a.m. on November 12, about 150 meters from the accident site. The authorities have now handed over the body to his family for burial according to local customs.

Previously, at around 4:30 p.m. on November 11, Mr. H. and his son Nguyen Van Q. (born 2008) rowed a boat to an area about 700-800 meters from shore to cast a net to catch seafood. While fishing, the boat suddenly encountered big waves and strong winds, causing it to capsize.

Nguyen Van Q. was lucky to swim safely to shore, but Mr. H. went missing.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Loc Ha commune authorities coordinated with the commune police, military , Cua Sot Border Guard Station and local people to search for the victim all night.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Cuong said that fisherman Nguyen Van H.'s family situation is very difficult. For now, the local government has visited, encouraged and supported the family with 5 million VND for funeral expenses.
